weather has been chilly in the daytimes, so pack a hoody or some warm curves or something.

big rainy one blew thru last nite, forecast is clear for the weekend but it won't be a warm one me thinks.

Wow, Thanks for mentioning that, Fergus. I just checked the weather for Yosemite, our destination for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday..35 degrees daytime high :o and snow... We're packing at ths moment...now adding warmer clothing. this is a 30 degree change from the weather forecast 5 days ago. Better prepared than packed lightly.

Just an FYI - I just posted about an event at Infineon, big Japanese car corral at the Historics. (Motoring J Style & ZONC behind it) They are calling it "Turn Z" for the 40th Anniversary and it would be awesome to have a bunch of roadsters there so spread the word in Solvang. June 6.

Safe travels and have fun. Unfortunately we have a wedding and can't make it down this year. Big bummer.

We left for Solvang at 4:30am this morning and arrived in Buelton at 8am, 250miles later.
Roadster ran fine we avg about 85-90mph with no traffic
Weather was fine until we got to Salinas then it was heavy fog/drizzle.
We just got back from Solvang at 11pm, what a day!

Big thanks to Jeff and SoCalRoc for putting on the event, weather was perfect after about 11am and we had close to 60 cars. It was fun to see familiar faces and folks that I have not seen in awhile!

Some highlights:
Eric Straw's SR20DET -powered 2000 won Best Of Show

Mike Young built another stunning 67.5 SRL:

Lots of cool non-roadster Datsuns at the show!

Mark(datsun1500) and Dave (dbrick) flew out!

Look at this pretty SR20-powered automatic '67...the gauges were converted to electronic and they were prizes from the last Solvang raffle!

Thanks for the great pictures.
Over 60 cars is amazing. I wish I could have seen all of them.

Thanks to Jeff and Gaby for their hard work in putting on a very nice show. Weather was great and the scenery around the area was green and gorgeous.
Cars were great. Loved the awesome Desirello family cars, including the newest addition, shown elsewhere, a beautiful red color.
I wanna be adopted!

We were up at 2am Paciffic to catch the plane, get to LAX, pick up Mark and get to Woodland Hills. Dean caught up with the caravan at the Bowling Alley, couldn't make the show but said hi to those meeting there. I bummed a ride with Chris Breyer, our wives traveled in air conditioned luxury in my rental Nissan Cube :D and Mark rode with Shannon up to Solvang. Got to Mendenhalls, and stayed up talking. After that 24 hour day, my body was still on East Coast time, so I was up at 6 am Saturday in time to see the drizzle just stopping and the start of a perfect day.
We had a great time, caught up with friends and met a whole bunch of people and saw some great cars. From restorations to wild modifides, and some non-roadsters there was a great variety. A big thanks to Stan for hand delivering some parts to me for the 64. And as usual, the EI distributor was won by an FJ-20 owner!!!

I was selling T-shirts and can coolers with all profits to benefit 311s.org, and many people stepped up and got alot of these sold. I'll post details in the vendor section with info.

We went to Sequoia today, words and photos can't describe this place, and then off to Yosemite tomorrow. There was 6+ feet of snow up high, but it was warm and clear. Yosemite may have more and will be much colder and snowing a bit. Like we didn't have enough snow this year at home, but we don't have that kind of scenery!

thanks Jeff and Gabby for a great event, superb in so many ways.
Michael - Eric, Kevin, Leo Del Cid, your work is awesomely inspiring.

Funny that Alvin and I left our respective homes at the same time, driving in opposite directions, and arrived in Solvang at the same time. I had shorter to travel...
(OK, I had a flat tire when I arrived and was perusing local gas stations for an operable compressor when he arrived, but you get the point)

Mr Shin Yoshikawa, who arrived in those bizarre French mid-engined cars and donated/signed prints for the raffle, besides being a talented cutaway view artist, is also a very talented sheet metal fabricator.
For those that have never seen this, it is pretty incredible. A full size Toyota 2000GT, all hand-formed. Note: as he states on the home page, this website is more about viewing and not about reading.

4 of us took a backroads drive on the way home, the old stagecoach route over San Marcos Pass, it got more and more steep and narrow until just single track washboard, but a heck of a view, at one point both sides dropping away into different valleys! I highly recommend it for those who can handle a little gravel here and there.
