Fitted all the handbrake linkages and rods.
What a quaint setup it is!
Found I was missing a few parts:
2 clevis pins and the 2 brackets that anchor the return springs on the actuating rods.
Bought 2 pins and I am in the process of making the spring anchors.
I seem to remember the originals were corroded beyond repair :(
Getting close to fitting the engine.
Also fitted some used Toshiba headlights to the buckets.
Both were very grubby on the glass.
Tried Prepwash, nope.
Tried Acrylic Thinners, nope.
Rubbed the glass with a clay detailing block and spray lubricant, VOILA! :o :o
I plan to resurface the window glass with the clay as well.

2 months to the Bay to Birdwood Rally!
Will I make it?
Don't you worry about THAT!

Got up early, put some bog on (yet another!) dent we found in one of the doors - just when we thought we had the whole door right! Left it for my wife to sand back. I'll pop home at lunchtime and see how she's going, and hopefully put some primer on them. The goal is to put the doors back on this Saturday.

Installed speed bleeders, swapped out the push rod for the 510 brake master I use (converted my brake lines to metric 28yrs ago so no other changes needed... Kinda nice since I got a new master cylinder for $15 on close out at Rock auto), and bled the brakes. Mark me as another BIG fan of speed bleeders, as they worked great. Got them fast from their website, and paid less than if I got them local (different brand)... As others have said, highly recommended!

Then I cleaned up the garage and the Roadster in hopes that Curtis will be able to come over Saturday to see if we can put some electrical back in the beast. I'm hoping the head and flywheel will be done soon so I can put it back together. Once i get it i will still have to test to see if the bigger valves hit the block or pistons... I sure hope not as I don't have time to mess with it if I'm gonna get the car running for the Shedd BBQ. After that I still have to get the Megajolt running, programmed and reliable, and tune the carbs... Sure hope I get to drive it this year!

Well, HE did tape the one harness for me. Mostly I stuck him with go-fer work. Then I left my crimper and wire strippers there.

Today I quick-detailed the roadster with a product that I found in my garage:
Image
Tim Miner gave me this stuff awhile back but I forgot about it.

In my experience it works better then the meguiar's spray, give it a try!

Fitted the 1/4 windows into their retainers with new rubber seals: -
Image
Took a few hours but they are now finished off nicely and ready for installation into the chrome frame work
Image
Also fitted some new Bailey channel into the side window guides.
Window glass will be VERY snug initially.

My engine has been pumping air and water out the radiator when warm.....No water in the oil, but some vapor in the exhaust, so I took a compression test the other day 165, 130, 125, 210...not good.....should be 165.
So I am taking the engine apart.

Valve cover off

Ready to pull the head with the intake manifold.

Finished making up the remaining rigid lines for the brakes and clutch.
Man, those bridging tubes on the front drums were a challenge :smt013 :smt013
Image
Only lines left to instal now are the two fuel pipes.
They will have to wait until I clean and seal the fuel tank with the KBS system.

Fitted the [newly ceramic coated] headers and inlet manifold to the engine.
Image
The headers look fantastic! Cast Iron Grey on the outside and silver on the inside.
They should stay looking like that forever.
I wanted to fit the manifolds before fitting the engine.
The engine and transmission are now ready to go into the car: probably this weekend :D :D

Seats are being done at the Trimmers as we speech :)
I'm happy with progress so far, everything is flowing pretty well.

I hear you on making brake lines! Believe me, it's even worse with a later car and left hand drive. They crossed the lines over back and forth, left to right to accommodate the change. I did mine as a complete novice 29 yrs ago. I recently have been in the bay, cleaning things up some and considered redoing them. That is, until I remembered what a bitch it was. I wisely decided they looked and worked just fine...

Picked up SRL 01034 from the painter and brought back to my shop today. Sprayed with Glasurit single stage in Old English White and looks very nice. If anyone in the PNW wants to paint their roadster I would highly recommend this guy, he lays paint like butter.

That looks a great colour!
Mine was gloss white briefly until the primer dried, then it was dull again.
I must admit I really liked it in gloss white.

MAJOR milestone today :D :D :D

With the help of my son and grandson, we got the engine in :)

Not without some removal of bits but it's all done!
