Same story with the fella that rebuilt a 5 speed ‘SRL’ trans for me a few years ago. He was having health issues and I hope it it was done correctly. I have taken ‘off’ from re assembling the car.

Today I put mine up on blocks in preparation for 20-25" of rain predicted from this tropical storm passing through. There's a lot of flood predictions and don't really know how well my area will hold up to that.... if the garage floods I hope to Geta little relief and keep it out of the water.

The pink portion is supposed to get up to 30"

I should clarify ... the forecast is just that ... could get.
However, so far we have received over 8" today and we have a long way to go. Some neighborhood flooding up to the bottom of the mailboxes already ... we're in the "low country" and mot much room for water to rise.
Just trying to be prepared ... only took 5 min to raise the car 7-8" off the floor ... every inch might help!

Hey Gregl just read your post... sending hopes and prayers that you stay adequately dry! I'm sure you'll update us... flooding is terrible to deal with. Good luck and best wishes!

Thanks Greg,
Storm is gone but waters still a bit of a problem. One of the two entrances to our neighborhood have been closed to flooding and lots of streets. We are good and lucky the storm didn’t drop what was predicted.

Found some correct size roller bearings for the throttle shaft on the inlet manifold, smoother than the original brass bushings

You drilled it out for the bearings?

You could also use high precision sealed bearings the never need to be lubricant… just a thought

Pete,
The car looks Great! Painting flat or satin black behind the grille would make the front end pop. FWIW. Pat

No, just a push fit into the manifold casting, no drilling. The original brass bushing is a push fit, so pushed out.

I bought my 68 1600 in 1972. It has run. It has not run. It was my daily driver. It sat...for years. It was on the 2019 calendar. Currently it has not really run for four or five years. I am back into getting it to be a dependable ride. I have been fighting the electrical system and I'm thinking of just replacing the whole wiring harness. Any thoughts?

68DSU, First, remarkable these days you have owned the car since it was 4 year old, fantastic!
My 2cnts: since its a CA car, rust and corrosion is likely minimum unless (a big unless) you used it on the beach? If not, 99% of the harness(s) are likely fine; working to find the 1% that is causing you problems is well-------------- work. I'd bet you have the patience, given you still have the car. Only way to go is dive-in. Start taking pictures and asking questions here for specific problems and the solutions will come. Read/search the tech wiki, download Curtis's (tremendous) diagrams and compare your wiring with those OEM schematics. Typically the end terminals condition require cleaning. R&R all the points where black wires ground/attach to the frame need attention. R&R the fusebox (described in wiki) will be a big/productive start. Switching bulbs to LED (must see wiki for specifics) reduces OEM loads on the original system wiring and helps. Many have been down this road with great results based on advice from this site.
