I have a couple of events coming up this weekend, so I adjusted the junction of the exhaust headers and tailpipe to cure a slight tick tick leak.
The mechanical fuel pump has been replaced due to it leaking oil
Yes, the flange was so distorted that it wouldn't seal any more so it has been replaced with a new aftermarket pump: so far so good!
There is a Coffee & Chrome next Saturday night and an All Japan Day - Classic on Sunday.
Always a good time and we have very pleasant weather at this time of year :D :D :D
I'll do a cruise up our freeway to get to the display site and all will be well

Weather here is getting colder; snow will be here soon. Pulled the batteries, filled the gas tanks, topped off the fluids, dryer sheets strategically located in and around the cars. Tops put up, a little fogging oil on the carb linkages, car covers on...sleep tight girls, see you in April, or May

Clutch return spring broke yesterday and I had to find a replacement at ACE hardware ... I think the spring matched the original (or art least the one that was in the car) pretty well. The old spring rusted and the end snapped off.

Last week removed the roll bar from it as well as the soft top and installed the tonneau cover.

I have been going over this car (new to me) trying to get to know it and assess the condition of all of the systems. Getting ready to dump every fluid and replace just so I know the condition of everything. My dad bought this car 3 years ago from the original owner and at 80 years old he couldn't really do any of the work himself so I took it over for him.

Love this thing.

Which one of the clutch return springs broke, under the dash or at the bell housing? I think the one under the dash is really not necessary, but for sure the one down at the cylinder is a must.

Installed the rebuilt idler box that I bought during Dean’s fantastic Christmas sale. Wasn’t really hard to do but a bit of a Chinese puzzle working the box with the pitman still attached around the sway bar. My old one didn’t have much visible slop in it but the right wheel had some definite lateral movement. All gone now😎 Thanks Dean!

Big shout out ! Thanks

Hi Roadsterites
I just wanted to give a shout-out to one of the longtime contributors to this invaluable site. Greg , aka greg672000, was such a great resource for me while I recently did some major work on my U20 head. Greg was always open to answering my many questions along with great insight and suggestions along the way. It was reassuring to know that I was on track each step of the way.
Thanks again Greg. Very much appreciated. Anything to keep these old gals on the road.

Recently finished patching thru hole rust (that I know about).
Built this with Dad today. Barely had enough screws to put it together. Going to add more tomorrow and put in bracing to prevent racking left and right.

In the process of building a fully functional shroud for the radiator of my '65 310.
I now know that the factory "shroud" was simply a safety guard and was useless as a cooling aid.
I'm using some aluminium sheet to construct, coming along nicely.
20231222_135456.jpg
Cardboard template of the design.

20231222_135520.jpg
I might take up Origami for a hobby

20231224_155637.jpg
Folded and shaped left and right sections of the shroud.

20231224_125030.jpg
Cutout pattern for the fan blades. Same diameter as the factory shroud.

20231224_180032.jpg
Both sides cut to pattern with the upper and lower sections in place.

The shroud slopes from 5mm high at the radiator mounting flange, to 30mm adjacent to the OEM fan blades.
I bought some mini pinch weld rubber seal to line the edges with.
It might not be 100% airtight but it will protect the radiator core from the edges of the shroud :)
This is a far cheaper exercise to improve the cooling than fitting a larger radiator core/aluminium radiator.
It will be interesting to see the results when driving in our Oz summer :smt004
