ECU and Fuse Box :

This will be installed at a later time, but I just received my ECU and fuse box from MaxxECU, and I couldn’t be more excited to dig into it. After a lot of research, I found this to be the best value for the money, offering features that typically come at a much higher price point from other brands.

I opted for the Street Premium version, along with the optional relays and fuse box, as it provides an exceptional balance of functionality, expandability, and affordability. The fact that it comes with an onboard wideband controller, complete with a high-quality sensor, at a fraction of what competitors charge makes it a no-brainer for my setup.

The kit is remarkably complete, featuring high-quality connectors, well-organized wiring looms, and all necessary inputs and outputs for a seamless integration with my setup. The wires are clearly labeled, making routing and connections straightforward, even for those new to standalone ECU installations.

One of the standout features is the documentation. The accompanying diagrams are exceptionally detailed, making it easy to map out the wiring and sensor placements. This level of clarity is something you’d expect from much more expensive ECU systems, yet MaxxECU delivers it at a price point that makes high-end tuning more accessible.

From looking at the software, it seems that the learning curve will be minimal, making tuning and fine-tuning an engaging and rewarding process. The interface is intuitive, and real-time data logging is fully integrated. Additionally, MaxxECU offers an app that allows real-time monitoring on a tablet, making it even easier to keep track of engine parameters on the go. When considering how much other brands charge for similar capabilities, it’s clear that MaxxECU is delivering serious value for the money.

This ECU gives me the flexibility to run advanced ignition timing strategies, data logging, and even features like launch control if I decide to implement them later. It provides a feature set that rivals units costing significantly more, proving that high-quality engine management doesn’t have to break the bank. This is hands down one of the best bang-for-the-buck ECUs available today.

wow it sure looks nice all cleaned up and painted!!
if you're looking to hit 7,500 RPM easily that cam will suit you just fine!
Greg, I never tested antireversion chamber but I have done stepped headers that seem to work well.

Fuel Delivery Setup

Choosing the right fuel delivery system for the EFI conversion required careful consideration. Initially, I examined what Gregg had done with his car and exchanged a few messages with him. While his setup impressed me greatly, I felt it was overly complex for my goals. My aim was to keep noise down and simplify without compromising reliability and performance, so I chose an in-tank fuel pump approach.

After extensive research into various options, I selected the Tanks Inc. PA-2 universal in-tank fuel pump module. This unit offered the perfect combination of performance, simplicity, and affordability. Its dimensions matched perfectly with the depth of the original tank, simplifying installation, and it has a robust capacity capable of supporting up to 600 horsepower in naturally aspirated setups far exceeding my current power goals and providing ample headroom for future upgrades.

With the fuel pump selected, sourcing a suitable tank became the next step. Fortunately, a local enthusiast had exactly what I needed. I also took the opportunity to acquire a 260Z tank for a parallel conversion project.

To ensure reliability and quality, I sent the tank to a professional restoration shop for thorough cleaning and refurbishment. The tank was meticulously restored, undergoing full internal and external treatments.

Following the tank restoration, the shop installed the fuel pump module and relocated the fuel sender to accommodate the new setup. Here’s an in-progress photo showing the tank just after cleaning and preparation for pump and sender.

The restoration process leaves the tank with a clean silver finish, but for aesthetic consistency and protection, it will be painted satin black with epoxy coating, ensuring durability and a factory-like appearance under the car.

Trigger sensor bracket:

A quick update on the trigger sensor bracket

I am very fortunate that my buddy helping with this build appreciates craftsmanship, creativity, and precision. He is incredibly talented with fabrication and tools, always striving for excellence.

After discussing exactly what was needed, he skillfully transformed some scrap aluminum into a truly impressive bracket. The quality of his craftsmanship genuinely blew me away. The finished bracket has the precision, strength, and aesthetic appeal of a high-end aftermarket part. It's robustly constructed, meticulously machined, and beautifully finished. I'm extremely impressed and grateful for his invaluable contribution to this build.
