That is what I bought but it will not clear. I had heard there was one that had the solenoid at the 12 o'clock position but no one seems to have a part number for it.

I believe the transmission case in the RL411 is slightly different than the SP/SR.

I have my old RL411 starter (keeping for the future) if you want to trial fit it to your set up.

Let me know. I have it here in my garage in Katy

The RL411 Starter from my 1600 with 4spd. I was able to swap with a gear reduction starter from a H20. Just barely fit.

That starter looks like it would work as the solenoid is positioned away from the steering box. Do you have a part number? Everything listed for a 411 online is the same as the R16 for the Roadsters.

I went though all of my 410/411 books and parts catalogs. None of them have parts listings for the Rl411 1600. Lots of PL410 and PL411.

I have to go to the ranch and check for a spare. The RL411s are pretty wacky. The electrical diagrams (RL411) are just flat out incorrect in many aspects.

I have a big parts manual for all the 410 and 411, shows separate listing for SSS parts. I'm happy to share pages as needed.

So we completed the engine install and got her running a couple months ago. I just have to finish up some interior details and it is done. We found the correct starter in Keith's pile of starters and had it rebuilt. Keith is finishing a custom set of Carb filter housings for it as well. I had a local exhaust shop complete the exhaust from the manifold out the rear. It has a great sound and the car is a stump puller! We are looking to swap out the stock diff with a Roadster one that will better match the Roadster 5 speed we put in.

Yes the bumpers were huge and in really bad shape so I figured I would delete them. Now that I am in Texas the vehicle has to go through an inspection prior to getting a Texas title and registration. If they push the bumper issue I plan on getting bumpers for a 68 Camaro and shorten them to fit and then paint them black to match the graphics.
