Hah, well I guess it sucks to be Canadian! (That's a joke of course)

Guess some lucky US buyer will grab Mike's CA car.

The advice still holds though Jack, if you buy a "non-op" car, you are buying a blind item. Most cars get parked and not run for a failure reason, so many of the things on the list above will pop up.

Considering all the import issues, you best bet is one of Ross' cars if you want a driver within the next year or so. Pick it up and drive cross Canada to save the transport. Sounds like an amazing adventure!

Cheers, best of luck, j

Love this discussion, really helps people sort out their plans. Other than doing some stuff to my Datsun PU, the Roadster was my first engine rebuild, first body work and paint experience (what an education that was!), first brake rebuild, first body off the frame, first using a welder, first using a sand blaster, first time jetting carbs (and not the last!)... you get the idea. There's still blood on the inner fender in the trunk where I cut my hand. We're bonded, this stupid Roadster and I. Definitely built with love, and it's continued for over 30 yrs. I LOVE my car. I also know I can fix anything on it, one way or another (by myself or with very skilled help and knowledge) because I know every inch of it. I don't freak out when I break it or get chips and dings cause I know, if I want to, I can fix it. For me, Roadster ownership is a relationship, and I don't expect her to be perfect. Not everyone feels this way, but I think a lot of you here do. I've made nearly every friend I have via this car or some related experience. It's an ongoing journey, and made more enjoyable with all of you!

JT when it comes to buying cars and parts it does suck

That 5,5K of taxes duties and shipping really hurts, to put things in perspective if I can convince the owner to sell the car to me then sell the Solexes, intake and air filter assembly to someone who wants it more than me

I could then spend 10K on engine, suspension and brakes and still be at lower total
