Re: Hello from Calgary
Hey John -
I don't think it is roadster heresy, but I think they might be a little big... Better bet is to find a pair of miata seats on line... Chances are pretty good that you can sell these ones for what the Miata seats would set you back...
Jeremy -
Things are looking great! Before you fill in your trim holes, come and look at my cars...
Not that it is any of my business...
And like Greg says, relocate your gas tank anchors to the frame from the trunk floor. Common modification.

Re: Hello from Calgary
The seats may cause issues with the windows or top with the wide upper bolsters.

Re: Hello from Calgary
David - I think you have talked me into keeping the side trim, however the side badges are still not coming back. I have been looking at a number of roadsters that have side trim but no badges and I think the trim actually adds to the overall look of the car, it's the badges that clutter up the clean lines of the side profile.

Good to hear Jeremy! You won't regret it. Badges are negotiable. And an easy addition later if you change your mind.

Re: welding etc
I received my new distributor today from East Coast Roadster so that's going in after I study the manual.
Have any of you guys installed this before? It looks a little tricky. I have the old one still on until I do the switch.
While the tank is off, I have to tackle the rear mount fix issue and the cracks so I'm very likely to start welding (after practicing on something else of course!) . Canadian Tire has the Lincoln 180 230V on for sale at $599 right now - but the Youtube videos suggest Mig Welding with 110 is a little easier. I have 220V in my garage so that's not an issue. Jeremy, what do you think?
Thanks Anyone!

Re: badging
On that subject, David, you made my car a bit of a sleeper! No side trim or badging except for the small Fairlady emblems on the front fenders. Not even a Datsun on the hood.
What do you call a 1600 with a 2000 engine anyway? Fairlady works for me.
But I thought I'd help the general public and got a personalized license plate "68DATSN"

Re: Hello from Calgary
I think Garm (on here) set the standard for a 1600 with a 2 litre... 1600ish.
When I bought the car - at least 15 years ago - it had no side trim and no emblems... except the Fairlady badges, which I always liked...

It is pretty easy, but feel free to call me with any questions, problems or concerns!

Re: Hello from Calgary
Tom walked me through it on the phone and we had it sorted in about 30 minutes. Best roadster upgrade ever.
