Picking up the rebuilt U20 on Saturday
Zoom in on the pic and you can see the evil L is notched from chain strikes. Monitor it closely, reinforce it or cut it off!!!
Another thought... While the engine is out, check the cam timing, especially if the head has been cut or you're running a non stock cam. Much easier to do with the engine out. I can't tell you how much difference this has made in my engine, as mine was way off. If needed, JT68 has an adjustable gear at a very reasonable price.

Old chain, old news
Still tons of loose ends (including a leaky water pump), but today was the first U20 start. Engine started up without a fuss.

That is awesome news Dan - and it sounds pretty good. Glad you are bringing her back to U20 power.

Dirty and dusty, but the car is back on the road (well, for neighborhood driving). Took #529 for a quick spin this evening. Lots of loose ends still, but see light at the end of the tunnel.
New stock door panels arrived & Reassembly of center console is next

Thanks, Greg.
It is pretty thrilling just driving her around the neighborhood with the U20. First night she was together, I took her for a brief ride around the block...again & again & again & again
Currently cleaning up all the under dash connections/wiring and then will reinstall the center console.

#529 is now a daily driver and recently completed its first weekend trip (about 400 miles) to Nismo Fiesta in San Antonio, Texas. Very pleased with the end result of this daily driver project.
At the office on May 1st, 2017.
At the local high school parking lot.
