Probably wimping out a bit, but it is what it is.
Maybe I can collect parts to bring home that way??
Not wimping at all Ken. Sounds like a great adventure. I had a blast going to Kelowna. As I grow older, seems I need to pack alot of stuff (floorjack, air compressor, coffee maker, etc),,,just cant seem to figure out how to pack it all in the Datsun.
S or S, They're both on my bucket list.

I picked out the Denzo Demon's stripes right away! What a trooper that car was... gratefully borrowed, and an "interesting" ride... "Warp 9, engage!" Ah, well, no. "Warp 8!" Hmm, ok, how about "Please don't overheat cause the electric fan is fried, the suspension is on the bump stops, and the brakes..." Well, probably a good thing that warp 9 was not available. But she got me there and back in one piece, and I got a Shasta run in!
Having been to both, I'd recommend the Shasta meet if you have to pick one. You have a lot of lodging options and can even camp if you like. I met a lot of wonderful enthusiastic people there (Shout out to the Canadian contingent!). Yes, many drove down from Canada, Seattle, Portland, and up from as far as Las Vegas for the first one I attended. Get in touch with the organizers early. They need an accurate count of how many will be attending and will correspond via snail mail.
Just read the this subject from the beginning. We just signed up!! Looking forward to meeting all the left coast regulars. We are looking forward to the drive, wait! 2984 miles!
5 days ! still going to do it. Staying at the same place as Dave & Linda. Maybe in the months to come joining up with other roadsters as we cross the country.
More to come.

Wow, this is surely turning into a nation-wide draw! I don't think someone driving from Nevada will be winning the "long distant driver" award this year!
Carl NY, Bob Arkansas, who else is doing the long trip? Wish I had time to drive out, but the whole job thing gets in the way.

Well Sid, no need to be jealous.
Ask the wife for a 2 week vacation,
get in your Roadster (you do have one that runs, don't you?)
and caravan with BOB2.
You drive to Shasta and I will pay your entry fees.
If you can't drive you can still attend for less than you might think, if you plan a bit.
For Shasta, Southwest and Jet Blue fly into Sacramento airport and they both run sales. You can rent a car from Thurs to Mon for as little as 9.99 a day, or economicaly for a week too. Make a res then check a few days before when rates go down.
For Solvang, Jet Blue and Southwest flyninto Burbank or Los Angeles airport and the same cheap car rates apply.
Best to sign up for email notifications for the airlines, as well as becoming familiar with Kayak, Priceline, Travelocity etc.
For accomodations there are the hotels or camping.
Since Shasta has some fun runs, you could be matched up as a co-pilot in a shiny Roadster( maybe even Ted's) !
Linda
Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.
To ad to Linda's post, we flew in and out of Santa Barbara one year. didn't cost too much more than LA. Cute little airport,

Easy call for me… Shasta! (I am almost exactly equidistant from the two events - 4 hours either way) In addition to the great event at Shasta, I will be able to do some fly fishing on the Upper Sacramento River near Dunsmuir about 10 minutes away,
uppersac.jpg
then drive 50 minutes to fish near Burney Falls,
burney.jpg
then go hunt the stealth trout in Hat Creek at my favorite ranch,

finishing off with a drift boat trip down the lower Sacramento River for some monster Rainbows!

The Roadster will fit plenty of fishing gear!
