Visited the car Thursday evening. They are finishing up the dash in the next few days. Then applying Lizardskin (both the ceramic and sound product) to the interior, trunk and under the hood). I know just about everybody paints the entire shell then puts the interior in, but we decided to do another route. We are going to paint the interior and trunk area black then when the car comes back from interior -paint and assembly.

This is the final fitting of the top portion of the dash before they start grinding down all the seams and edges to make them all soft an subtle...I had him pop in a couple of the gauges real quick for the photo. They should have that center lower part done in a day or so, where the stereo and all the knobs. Then fill in the center console, fit for the power windows, seat heaters and cup holders.

Looks real cool and original. Center gauges take a bit to get use to, my wife's scion has them. She's always eyeing me about my speed.

So my dash and center console are coming along nicely. The middle piece of the center console is just laying on top, he hasn't attached it yet.

Tell me about the Lizardskin. What are you likes and dislikes about it?

I have been thinking of using it in my car.

I like that it was paintable and wouldn't tear like dynomate. It just sprays right in, so fit every spot of the interior.

Mostly because a friend of mine used it in his 510 and it really made a huge sound and heat difference. In the Roadster during the summer so much heat would come up from underneath and I live in Sacramento where it gets over 100 a lot, I didn't need the extra heat. My body guy was impressed because he heated up a panel and noticed that the lizard skin was still cool on the inside, that won him over. It's a roadster so it will never be quiet, but every little bit helps.

Car has been at interior shop for almost 2 weeks now. In theory the car is projected for completion in 15 days. I'm nervous we will miss the deadline and excited that we might make the date. So I decided I needed to pull out this and take a picture. I haven't visited the interior shop yet, but likely will this week to see how things are progressing...

It's pre-smog (pre 1975 I believe), so no emission requirement.

I've been flirting with the idea of just not getting a soft top made for my car. Now that the time is here, I still feel unsure. I know it's a toy car and I don't have to drive it in rain. But I don't want to screw up the interior stuff along the windows if weather happened on a trip. So I am considering buying the BRE car cover that says it is all weather. I've owned convertibles before and know I don't drive with the top up even in the rain (had to prove that rain misses the inside when in motion - loved the looks from other cars).

Anyone have any experience with this car cover? Would it really protect the car from rain for a night or two if away on a trip? Otherwise my car will be in the garage. It's just an emergency item but I'd like to gather some opinions.

I've had good luck with a one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/MG-MGB-GT-COUPE ... 9e&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Even with the top on, water can and does get into the car. With the tyvek cover, my car stays dry assuming I cover it as soon as I park it on a rainy day. If it starts wet, it stays wet, but doesn't get any more wet if that makes any sense. It also keeps the interior cool during the summer.
