The parking was still a bit full. Luckily squeezed in here, had about 5 seconds till the sun was gone.

On Saturday I DROVE to Brisbane Marina and attended the ZONC Annual Car Show. Here is my report, enjoy the pictures!
http://www.zcarblog.com/2018/08/01/even ... -show.html
I stopped by the office on the way to the show, and found a nice photo-op:

We had three roadsters: my 67.5 1600, Dave Premo's '67 2000 and John Baker's '69 2000:

John's roadster is incredible. I had to get some rolling shots as we left the show. Did you notice his bias ply tires and day/night mirror?

It was good seeing Premo as well, he's got some cool Mikuni parts:

ps...why do people always look at my rear

I got to take a car that hasn't been on track in 20+ years for a little drive at Sears Point last weekend. This car finished 4th at the 1984 National Championships. I'll be racing it at Monterey in 2 weeks.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

The roadster looks like a micro car compared to that mustang in the background.
"When all else fails, force prevails!" Ummm, we're gonna need a bigger hammer here.

Day 1 of my road trip with my son we drove 250 miles from Tacoma, WA to Astoria, OR for a burger and shake and ending the day in Pacific, OR. Lots of good driving, a little overcast with a few sprinkles, but all in all she ran great and we got lots a thumbs ups and honks.

That is a fun drive that my wife and I have taken a few times. If you continue on to Tillamook then go north into the woods you can access some really great mountain roads (and get a little better weather when it is cold on the coast).AC77 wrote: Sun Aug 12, 2018 7:17 pm Day 1 of my road trip with my son we drove 250 miles from Tacoma, WA to Astoria, OR for a burger and shake and ending the day in Pacific, OR. We recently did a quick run out to Ocean City to spend some time on the beach, about 2 hrs from the house. Did it in the Datsun a few weeks ago and got some great, ocean mist pictures of the car. We were gonna run out there last week again but I discovered the Roadster had ripped out both of her motor mounts, so we took the wife's 2001 BMW Z3. So cool that you can drive on the sand there. We had sections of beach completely to ourselves. But it was very misty and hard to see the ocean, and as we drove along I failed to note that there was a crowning of sand... got the car stuck! After some "Don't worry honey, the ocean is not going to claim your car, trust me..." reassurances, several magazines and other trunk sourced items allowed me to slowly extricate the car from the grips of the sandy quagmire, pride intact. Wife was beginning to wonder though... the last few times we have been out on drives have resulted in some break downs or other such issues. Just a few days before that the Datsun ALMOST left us on a remote mountain road with no cell coverage and no neighbors. Her (at time unknown) broken motor mounts caused the main battery wire to the starter to loosen up and make contact where it shouldn't, creating an electrical short and making the starter motor run continuously. Took me an hour to figure it out, but the starter was fried. Once I got the wiring working again, I had one chance to compression start it in reverse on a very short and near flat gravel driveway where I had pulled over... she didn't fail me! No tow truck for this Blaster! Got her home and am waiting for the mounts...

I am hoping for a issue free road trip, we are headed down there Klamath, CA before heading to Shedd and back jome. We did drive some mountain roads, it was really cool. Google must have known we were in the roadster, it just took us that way. Lots of twists and turns and no cars to be seen, like our own private course

Day 3 and we are staying at the Motel Trees right across from the Trees of Mystery. Stopped at some place called Ocean World, or something like that. It was cool, foggy and misty, but all in all a good day with good driving. Was planning on heading to Shedd from here, but one of my kids has something going on that I thought was okay to miss (told my wife otherwise), so we are going to power through tomorrow and head back to Tacoma.

5 days of driving and a little over 1,250 miles in my little 1600. She ran like a top and got to stretch her legs. I do have some things added to my Todo list, but nothing critical. Happy with the drive and happy to be home!
