Nice meeting you Scott on the Santa Monica fun run. That's quite a testament to Datsun toughness and endurance. Never ceases to amaze me how great the 1600 are. Welcome home.

Thanks again to everybody for the support and cheerleading and kind words and everything. The support of the folks on this board and of the Roadster and Datsun community at large has been an unexpected but awesome part of the entire trip. I am definitely not done doing this, either...the day I got back, I was already looking at maps to see where to go next. I've still got Alaska, Hawaii, and a couple more provinces to hit... :)

For your viewing pleasure, here's a video that Nissan put together of my visit to the Test Center/Proving Grounds in Arizona (thanks, Dale!) I don't know if they've had a roadster on the high speed oval before ("high speed" being a relative term here after driving the GT-R around it), but it looks pretty good on the banking if you ask me...

Scott,

Yes it was fun to have you come out here and visit "Nissan - ATC" (Arizona Test Center).

Thanks for taking the time and driving the distance to allow me to set this visit up. We all enjoyed having you here.

Latest post is up for Scott's last week of his trip and visit to AZ and Los Angeles. Some nice food shots and the very nice pic of his car showing the " good" side on Mulholland.

Ya know, the word Wow has been used numerous times throughout this trip, but once again it's the first word that comes out of my mouth. If this video doesn't make you fall in love with a Datsun Roadster, you're simply not a car person. Maybe it's because I have just woken up and this was the first thing I watched or pretty much did, but I got tears in my eyes for lots of reasons... Your connection to the car, the adventures and freedom you experienced, the tie-in to your grandfather and how it's linked to your life and today's adventures... Whatever it is Scott, thank you so much for sharing more than just a few pictures of a road trip, or even an "epic" road trip... It was more than that, and I only experienced it through you and the Datsun, and all the great Roadster and non-owning but wish they were Roadster people you met along the way. Ambassador indeed. What a great representative. You did such a fantastic job of bringing us along, engaging us as your cheering section, giving us personal tidbits and observations in such a humble and enthusiastic way. I can't think of how this could have been done better because I don't think this was done with the intention of it being any more than a personal trip you happened to document, and it became so much more without ever losing the initial intent... Drive my Datsun friend, THIS car, and let's see what happens along the way. You did what so many of us long to do, and you did it right... more than right. I'm just glad I got to come along.

Well done Scott, well done. See you down the road...

Excellent video! Sorry we weren't able to connect. I love that car, and the drive you did. I would do that in a heartbeat if I could!
