Well while your gushing, you might want to point out that those are JT's stainless steel OEM Style hose clamps too!

He recently announced that he’s reproducing the Fuel T that came with the Solex package, and I presume that were standard on 67.5 2000 cars regardless of carburetors. He’s selling them in 6.5mm for SU cars and 8mm for Solex cars, which should be running a slightly bigger fuel line. I’ve been trying to get by using a SU “T” for my Solex setup for some time now, which has never worked very well with the bigger hose, and made me obsessive about checking for fuel leaks there when starting after extended periods of non-activity. Anyway, bolted the new one on today. Looks great, accepted the hose perfectly, and of course no leaks. Thanks Jim!

+1 for the tee. Received mine earlier this week. Keep up the good work JT!

Today I replaced the Ford Motorcraft coil pack that fires my megajolt with an Accel version with a bit more voltage. When that didn't fix my engine rocking problem (but did Rev smoother), I dug into the carbs.

For many years I've been fighting this sudden condition that would happen where the carbs would go out of balance. I'd adjust them back, and it would be good for some time, then do it again. So today I watched how my linkage all works together (modified for the Dellorto carbs) and realized something: You cannot have one carb set the idle and the other set the balance. One carb has to set both idle speed and then balance or control the opening of the other carb. In my case, I had to make the rear carb control the engine and then balance the other carb to it. Before, the front carb controlled idle speed, and with the way the balancing linkage works it causes the rear carb to operate in exactly the opposite of what you want because the rear carb is not in a fixed position. I was able to find the sweet spot in the past, but it was so sensitive it could not remain that perfect, thus it would go out. Anyway, long story short, it pays to take your time and understand how things interact. Fun stuff.

Re-connected the wire to the new, replacemen spade connector on my 1 wire alternator ... so now battery charges again.

Nothing to do with the alternator ... but I am still geting lousy fuel economy compared to what the specs say for the SU's. 100% in the city...and unless my claculations are wrong or my odometer is off, I'm only getting 16 mpg (us gallons). If I get some time I'll see if I can do a measured mile somewhere.

Good afternoon, and thank you for your kind words. A local sheet metal specialist used the top well trim as a template to cut the piece from 16-gauge. Bolts welded underneath the front locate the two arms in the factory holes, and a bracket welded at the rear mates with the factory bracket underneath the body overhanging the rear deck.

Only a few changes in the engine room since last pics were posted: combo push-pull fans, coolant overflow tank, alternator juiced up to 160 amp, some other things I can’t remember. BTW, the alternator is the ONLY pulley driven off the crankshaft, since the water pump on an LT1 is driven off the camshaft. Adjustment is even simpler than on our U20!

I had “promised” Alvin some time ago a video of the car running on the road, but near terminal prostate cancer can interrupt more than just urine flow! Hopefully with that now behind, we’re taking bets on whether I can post a video before Alvin goes “topless.”

Any takers? :)

WOW! Great Googly Moogly, that is one heck of a lot of engine in that little lady.
That must be exhilarating to drive to say the least!

WOW, TMI there Alvin! I bet you are raising some eyebrows on your daily commute!

Nah, just kidding, that is one clean engine bay, and cool looking tonneau, I am very interested as to how it changes the wind flow while driving at speed.

Sorry for the poor quality pic, but I had to share. Right now I am at the tail end of a pretty major interior refresh. With my repainted dash dry, I just couldn't help putting my Jon Frampton gauges in and snapping a pic. It's already looking awesome!
