Prices are similar, both have the manuals that will describe the system, help you figure out how you want to design your system and review options for which controller to use. DIY has a specific article on VG30s using their much more expensive Megasquirt unit, but it gives very important information about your particular platform/engine that you may or may not need. Study this stuff. My engine is simple and does not have to deal with things like a cold start solenoid for example. I don't know why you would need the more expensive unit vs the Microsquirt V3 since there's no emissions, AC, etc... you're just running the injectors and timing the engine. Both places have been very good at answering questions so I'd start by reviewing the install on a VG on DIY and getting used to terminology and what does what, then talking to them about what you need. Also, read the "Why do you need EFI" articles on DIY... it clearly explains what you're trying to accomplish and why it makes a difference. Finally, feel free to review my verbose posts on "Jenvey EFI" that describe my system and install on this site since you will face many of the same issues for fuel supply and return, wiring, etc. If you decide to do any welding on your gas tank please be very careful... I had a client who blew his hand off and lost an eye welding on a gas tank. My swirl tank system did not require any welding, but I did decide to add an inline fuel cooler on the return line that probably would not be needed if the fuel pump was inside the car's gas tank, or if the return line went only to the large tank vs going to my swirl tank and "overflowing" back to the main tank if needed. A direct return would have required dropping the tank and fiting a short height return port... mine just uses the tanks stock vent line since the "overflow" volume is small.

Saved that to my notepad. Greatly appreciated. Have had a little over a week away, not able to work on the roadster. One of the challenges I ran into last was figuring the Mount situation out for the transmission. Though mine is a 1600 it had a 2000 transmission Mount. I confirmed after locating the transmission Mount on the internet that looked like the one that came off my roadster and then I had a lightbulb moment—went to go check and make sure it was a 4 speed trans we pulled from the roadster and SURPRISE! It is a 5 speed. Pretty cool, though it isn’t going to be used at any rate. So I have to experiment find the right mount for optimal fit and figure out the engine mounts—then wiring

Getting there!
Did snag this from sincity Datsuns and man makes me more pumped to get it on the road

Didn’t catch that when I first read it
My goodness that sounds horrible. Did they not drain the gas tank or was it like residual vapors??

Residual vapors. I used to be a vocational rehabilitation counselor. There are very specific protocols to follow... he didn't. He wished he had. I try to remind myself of that when doing something that might fling something into my eyes for example... probably won't happen, but if it does... then on goes the safety goggles and I thank myself.

Alright well I’m an interesting turn of events I brought a 68/69 1600 (#18xxx) home today and next weekend go back for a 68 2000. The 1600 sat for 15 years according to the previous owner. Well some gas and a battery and a few tries , it ran. Bought it for a parts car for my vg30 fairlady however it runs and the body and metal are probably 75-80% better than my current car. The new 1600 has some rough spots but no where near as much as ol red
So the goal is to take the u20 and trans and put it in the new 1600. As well as keeping the VG project going

As for the vg project currently in the design and fabrication stages of motor mounts , then we will begin to wire it up!

And the addiction starts! Wow, how often have we seen this on 311s! "It just followed me home." "Such a deal I couldn't pass it up..." " This one's for my wife/kid/brother in law..."

Actually sounds like a good opportunity, especially if the U20 is still solid or workable. We can inject that one too!

And ooooo I’m going to look into that!
