The distance between the mounting holes on my 1969 SRL radiator are,
Vertical: 8 inches
Horizontal: 16 inches
The distance between the mounting holes on the Ebay"1969-1970 Datsun Fairlady Champion 3 Row Core Alum Radiator" I received are,
Vertical: 7 inches
Horizontal: 16 5/8 inches
Jayedeluxe, please post if you get anywhere with Champion. I would re-order from them if I could get one that fit.

Champion used my radiator as a pattern, sent me the prototype to try. It fit my 69, spl311-11300 late steering box. I thought the issue was using a Champion in early cars, unless something changed. The double fitting and no cap sounds like they sent a 1600 rad to jayedeluxe
And was your bracket hole distance 16 inches ?
It was a LONG time ago. If you notice in the photo, I didn't have a fan or shroud and spaced out the mounting bars for a front mount fan, so if it was off by 5/8 I probably didn't notice.
Dis anyone contact Sin City Datsun? He seemed to be in on this from the beginning with the 1600, may have some insight. He was a Champion dealer, but isn't showing them now.

Yeah, I was able to speak with Brian at Sin City. From what I gather, he had a 1600 that Champion had a radiator for. That is a different size and configuration than the late models 2000's. Will talk to Champion again on Monday and hope to be able to bring mine in and have them size it up. If you go on their website, and search by core size, 14 in wide, 14 1/4 in tall, they don't even have that size listed. I know there' one out there.........

Follow up on 1970 SRL311 radiator fit issue......I gave up !!! Got mine recored and paid a bunch. But at least it fits !!! Hahaha. Now I've lost the drain plug. I see they are very expensive online. Anybody know the size of these ? I know it's fine thread (24), but don't know if it's metric or standard. A 5/16 in. goes in nicely but seems to bind up quickly after a couple revolutions. I pull it out and the threads look a bit stressed. I certainly don't want to strip it out. I'd like to think a 1/2in. to 3/4 in length bolt and washer should be ok ? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

You should be able to hit up the HELP! section of your local parts store to get a new plastic drain plug...but I'm not sure what the thread size is.

I am still a Champion dealer but the power sellers on Ebay and Champion can sell them so cheap that there is no money in them for me to sell. The early 2L version had the mounting issues but I have heard from a couple people that the latest version has fixed the issue. The problem with the first generation of the 2L radiators was that Champion assumed the mounting points were the same as the early 1600 radiators. The only one I worked with Champion on was the early 1600 radiators and they fit great. I recently purchased a Champion 2L radiator for my 1600 FP race car and it fit perfectly so it was clearly an earlier version. I would contact Champion and make sure you get the newer version so you don't have to open up the mounting holes or do any other modifications for it to fit.

I got the one they said was for a 2L and it wasn't even close to fitting. They took it back with no problems though, even paid for return shipping.
