I can't imagine losing a community like this.
Discussions and information about our cars would be thrown into an incoherent/disorganized social media hell without this forum.

Disgruntled is so 2020.
This is a site where I can find out what this spare part is or where do I find a horn button or just how do you get that fiddley bit on the stuck away shaft. I know the answers are from people who have knowledge in the area and who have no other motive in assisting that a sheer willingness to help a fellow Roadster suffereer. Along with this is a willingness to hear the same question repeated often, to keep sympathy with those who "mess up", and to be toleratant of the "rookie question".

This site has way more information than found elsewhere. More than all the manuals combined, more than Facebook too.
A book should be created just from the information on this website alone. I mean to do more write-ups
to help others.
Facebook might be great to show off you're new paint job to the public but I really don't like it for anything technical.
Steve - Keep the 311s Site ! We love it, you and the moderators. You all do an excellent job !

This site is awesome, the archived information is priceless. There isn't much traffic, as is typical for forums these days, and I already see there are certainly different camps, but people have been friendly and helpful in my short time here.

Seeing this poll was a bit of a shock actually. Since I only come here for Roadster knowledge, I was entirely unaware of any 'disgruntledness'.
I simply can't imagine taking on my first-ever car project without this site and the help of all you smart and dedicated folks.
It often seems that the most critical have the loudest voices, and that's a shame...
So I hope this poll reaffirms all the good that you're doing, and that those of us who really, truly appreciate this site are loud and clear about that.
Thank you all.

S Allen wrote: Sat Dec 26, 2020 3:21 pm Thanks for the support. I am not thinking about pulling the plug any time soon. I still enjoy keeping the site going. I will consider removing the non-roadster related section as it can tend to be a distraction. I just now locked the "Stay At Home" thread as it was getting out of control and banned someone for what I believe is the 5th time since we have been in existence. I don't enjoy doing that but I find it hard to believe the person will be missed. We are all a bunch of prima donnas from their perspective anyways.
Steve
I would not remove the non-roadster discussion topic. Anyone can open or not open, and if it appears to be going too negatively a thread can always be locked down.

Re: Poll Has 311s.org run it course?
Exactly the reason why as a moderator I would rather not have to waste my time policing non-relevant content. There are plenty of other forums for non-roadster opinion - this is not one of them. This site has one purpose, Fun with Roadsters! You want to preach, proselytize, politicize or otherwise - go where you are comfortable. This is not the place - we now may need to lock this thread down as it is getting a bit heated and introducing personal attacks. No need, no point.
To be clear, it's about Roadsters, people, nothing else.

I think that the results of the poll and the comments show that the person who's opinion generated this post is an outlier...

This would be a great time to donate to 311s.org, if you have not already. Don't make the owner or moderator's jobs any more stressful.

Re: Poll Has 311s.org run it course?
What gets me is that many of the people on FB have no clue about this site. Many questions are asked, with lots of conflicting responses, when the answers could be easily found here.
I visit every day and am constantly finding gems of knowledge. Like any forum, there are threads that interest me and threads that don't.
I do me but I don't feel the need to comment on other peoples' opinions.

A total help for me, and also interesting. Even though some stuff has no relavnce to my project, I still admire the skill and dedication others on here put in, whether stock, or engine swap. Been a great help to me, and will be in the future. Keep up the good work.
FB kills forums, I also own a Datsun Z, and the traffic on some of those has dropped off (e.g. Hybridz).
