I started to know I was getting old when this happened... A 20 year old I worked with heard Bob Segar's "Turn the Page" on the radio 3 months after Metallica's version came out and got all upset, saying "I can't believe some @#$##% covered a Metallica song and ruined it!

Don't get me wrong, I like Metallica, except when Lars whines about people swapping MP3's

Metallica song writing therory: end every line with FAAAAHH, ZAAAAH!! ,WAAAAHH! etc. and it all rhyme-ZAHH!
See how it works-SAAH?
Can just keep going on and on-NAAAH!
Till you get bored-DAAAH!

Hey, what about "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen?

I'm getting old, I can feel it. Now I have to go to Kaza and see who Trooper is, as I never heard of them. Gotta stop listening to Elvis Costello on 8-track and find some new music.

BTW, off topic, as if any of this was on topic, Local college station at Fordham University is on the web now, WFUV.org. Good stuff if you like variety. During the week everything from traditional Blues to stuff that defies categorising. Weekends can be hit or miss scary, unless you like Irish traditional and church services.

Trooper!

Daryl, You are an old school Canuck!

BTW a couple of Trooper band members actually live in the neighborhood. Offer them a ride in "Frankie" when she's on the road again. I really thought your song would be: "She ain't pretty she just looks that way" Northern Pikes

Dave if case you're wondering,
Northern Pikes was very obscure, local Vancouver, one hit wonder, early 80's band

You know, we may have been going down the wrong path on the music. Send the money via courier and then show up to "tow" the car with a frothing piece of S&^* and a tow bar. Dress like a bum and have "Fuedin Banjos" playing on the 8 track in the old truck...

Now the Northern Pikes i've heard of!!

Oh, How bout "The Rodeo Song" by David Allen Coe? A friend had this on a 45 with "NOT FOR RADIO AIRPLAY" stamped all over it.
If you never heard it, go find it, it's filthy and hilarious.

Sid, it should be an old time pickup truck wrecker with the rubber slings and hook. A big sloppy dog in the front seat would be a nice touch. I'm thinking Cooter.

Hey, I really liked Trooper. Great local band that did very well in Canada, but for some reason just never made it south of the border.

Garth, you tellin me the fella with the white Miata down the street is....?

I like the old beat up tow truck idea, but you'd have to pay for the car first, then signal for the tow. And it would have to be a real freindly big dog, that would go up to and slobber all over the guy, maybe crap on his lawn.

Songs?
So far I like:
Lunatic Fringe (When it came out I thought it was "Lunatic Freinds". Kinda applied with the crowd I hung out with, maybe this crowd too! Garth, you out there!!)

Boys in the Bright White Sports Car (I drive a white sports car! :D )

Rodeo Song (New meaning to "Here comes Johnny..........)

"She ain't pretty...." was for my car. It ran good, but was a little underpowered, speedo didn't work, couldn't shift without grinding gears, body was a little out of alignment (side to side, and doors don't close properly), interior is unfinished......Soon she will be prettier on the inside (stroker eng, 5 spd) and I'll have to drop that as a theme.

I don't know if it has been mentioned yet...But I think the song ''Danger zone'' by Kenny Loggins would do nicely.

So, hanging out with bikers, huh Pete??
Ever been in a Turkish prison?

Hey I saw on the news somebody built a machine that reads LP's optically, no needle and electronically ignores noise and scratches. Real expensive now, but if he mass produces.....

Yup. Suzuki's starting in high school, but Harley-Davidson from '77-'86. Up until '84 my roommates were Devil's Breed MC Honolulu. I was the independant flying the American flag on my cut-off with 'F&%K IRAN' in big letters above it. Still have it...

Stayed pretty much drunk for two solid years...good times...lotsa stories...a miracle I'm still alive, hehehehehehe.
