Alvin, thank you for your sense of humor and attempt to lighten the mood. This is a great roadster community and I really do appreciate your love for these cars and respect you show to one another.

If you look closely at the car, you can pick out some interesting details. The top seems to have a rubber lip to seal to the window. The Lion key is in the ignition. The owner seems to have a magnetic clip on the side of the radio console with something clipped into it (registration perhaps?) The fun is in the details.

I have a very funny, truly unintended pic of my car in the driveway when I first drove her to my new home. I didn't notice the shadow until much later, but it would suggest that I am REALLY excited to see my car (the shadow is caused by a light post). I considered posting it when all this was going on, but I don't want to upset anyone. I've showed it to several friends and it's worth a good laugh.

For me, I guess when you work in health care and see naked people regularly, the "shock" factor goes away. What is very interesting to me about such photos and others is the level of sexism that existed (still exists in some areas like wages, comments etc), though not necessarily reflected in these pics, just in regards to attitudes in general, especially in the 50s. Standards in industries like airlines for women regarding height, weight, age and marital status etc... wow. It's kinda like the controversy over civil war statues etc. They have a place in history and mark important if terrible or unacceptable attitudes and should not (in my opinion) be in the public domain as a current representation of today's acceptable beliefs and attitudes, but instead should be placed in historical museums where they can continue to show us where we have been and how far we have come, so we don't forget and repeat the same mistakes.

I thought I would add one more picture. I didn't post it originally since it is a wagon, not a Roadster. But it has the same girls and location and the hubcaps are the same as the 1500.

The 'big' hair is bad enuf - <g>- but the SKIRT!!!!!

Steve, You seem to have gotten some really cool rare and probably unpublished ad photos... Do you have more? Did you get original slides/negatives or were they print images? Any markings or notes that were with the photos? Dates, locations, model names, photographer, etc. Would be willing to guess that even in the early 60's these were very much outside the norm for most car company ad's.... There was still a lot of wholesome imagery if you look at the other ads of the same period. These seem to be ahead of their time as you didn't see so much blatant "sex sells" ad work until a little further on in the 60's.

Believe it or not this actually ran through my mind...clearly the blue boxes had to cover "stuff" enough

I took a risk, happy it (seemed) worked out in a positive way. You are the trailblazer though, kudos for the find and the openness to share.

It will be interesting to see how this new step unfolds for this forum.

That is it - just the five 8 X 10 prints. No more info, other than that the seller said that they were promotional photos from the personal collection of a former Datsun manager and the seller was from Las Vegas. So maybe the scenery is somewhere around there.
