Zippy67, Thanks, I do have more specific questions that will help me:
I know that that guides hold the whole thing "level".
My questions are:
- Is there anything actually connected/ screwed within the A-pillar to hold the backend in place or does the backend just slide as the rod moves when the door is opened and closed? I see no pics of the back end in any of the pics or discussion in the threads. Maybe because there is no fastening and it will be obvious when I open it up. I just don't know.
- Why are there slots/ ridges in the back end piece and the rubber spacer/grommet that is on that piece. Do those ridges have a purpose? Seems like a weird design if no purpose.
Sorry if I wasn't specific in what I was asking. Thanks all that help.

The rod doesn't connect to anything in the A pillar, it needs to freely slide into the A pillar when the door closes. The hard rubber stopper bottoms out on the back side of guide bracket to limit the door travel. If I understand the second part of your question the two ridges bolted to the top and bottom of the slider rod are to capture the rubber stopper from free floating on the rod.

So this has been answered but I thought if you wanted to see one actually inserted and installed you could watch my video about the new door limiters I just had made. The installation is right at the 5:13 mark of the video.
