Nope, didn't catch Vinny, shop was closed up. Was driving through late on a Sunday and slammed on the brakes when I saw them on the side of the road (kind of freaked the girlfriend out). Vinny, when are you usually at the shop? I'll try poking my head in one day.

Would love to join you guys sometime. I have some gremlins to work out though before I feel safe in my 2nd SRL that I've had for about 6 months now. Shimmed the timing tensioner today to get rid of the rattle on start up. Now on to the next issue...

So, I've had these roadsters for about 12 months now. Neither of them were complete or able to run. The 70' sat dead in the sun for 33 years and the 69' dead for 23' years now.
I've blown all my loose change and afforded all the missing parts via ebay, Craigslist and other roadster leads and even peeps offering deals on this forum. I simply sold all my older Z car bits and whatever else I could on the same mentioned sites to generate a fund for doing it.
SO the 69' runs drives great and is complete again.......the 70' is complete now but I've not spent anytime getting it to run aside from getting all the bits together. Motor spins has good compression.I'll work on that another year.

The car came with all bright work painted black...even the tail end of the car. I recall that being a track style thing back in the day for some. I srtipped all of that and like it better.

I made myself a goal of giving myself 2 weeks to strip all of the yellow paint and factory spanish red down to bare metal by New years day!

Tough to do while earning money and paying bills but I did it! I still have to nook and cranny several areas with spot sand blasting . All but the engine bay and underside are now in green self-etch primer. (E-coat).

Loosen lower bolts....a sign of whats to come! :? ( Clean out behind your fenders as soon as you obtain a car guys!)

Next up cutting out pin hole rusted areas behind the fender to rocker points on both sides. They weren't real bad but I loathe ANY rust and I wanted to fix things right. Those rust converters and POR products will only retard the problem not actually DEAL with it like welding.

SO off with the bad and in with the new metal. I hand formed the pieces for the rocker and lower fender corner and added a water escape path.

My drivers door was terribly cracked where the door limiter over flexed so I cut out all the bad and fabbed up new stainless tabs to replace the old. I also reinforced the inner backing to avoid any issues in the future.

My deck lid had the chrome handle shaved and filled....later denoted the underside was bent up in difficult to repair fields so I had considered welding in a section from another lid I had......then a great deal on a perfect lid fell my way. Easy choice.

I also noted a small crack on the doors where people have pulled on the 1/4 windows often.....so I plan on fabbing a reinforcement plate for those as well.

Wow. Nice work. Any chance I can convince you to weld in a lost dash nut for my rear view mirror while I have the windshield off?

Thanks! I usually have a lift as well as space to openly sand blast without concern.....but currently I'm in a work center which has many constrictive rules about sound DB's and messes.
