Re: BRE Style Exhaust - Possible?
Jeff, why don't you get some poster board and roll it up to simulate exhaust tubing and mock it up. While it might look good looking down at it, I don't think it would look very good to the car following you with a lower view. There is very little room back there and the cross pipe is really going to show, being below the bumper and the pipes extending from it will have to be very short and stubby. As JT mentioned the 90 degree bend in your exhaust is not going to help performance at all and is going to make people scratch there heads in bewilderment. If the look is your main concern maybe you could fabricate some sort of apron or roll pan to hide the cross pipe, just leaving the two tips visible. Who knows maybe the way you are leaning will actually look great, but I would want to mock it up first and check it from different angles before I invested much money in it. Good luck, mike

Re: BRE Style Exhaust - Possible?
I have thought quite a bit about this. I was thinking about buying an ANSA exhaust for something like a triumph new, then cut it up and apply it to my 311. However if you wanted dual, you could easily "y" the exhaust and come out with the dual ANSA tips. I had a 240 with an ANSA and loved it. Not sure how the 4 cyl will sound.

Re: BRE Style Exhaust - Possible?
I've built and sold several Ansa based systems over the years, but they are really fairly restrictive compared to the newer offerings. They are also just plain steel. Ansa used to have a universal series, but long out of production. Most the Ansa cans have smallish (1.5") pipes and mufflers, so not a big fan of those.
If you want to build your own system, I do have some very nice, high flow pipe sets available with or without Stainless mufflers/resonators. May have some left over Ansa stuff from way back in the day too.
Regarding the BRE style project, I just finished up the precision stainless bends and am starting to mock up.
How much past the bumper would you want to see the pipes extend? 4"? 6"?

JT it's great that you're doing this, thank you for taking the time!
Since our cars have bumpers, and the BRE 240's dont, I've been going back and forth on what would look good for the length. I dont think I would want it out too far but if you can imagine our bumpers on the below picture, it looks like the pipe may line up dead even with the bumper. I would say either even or an 1-2" past the bumper would look best. Thoughts?

Also, as far as how far apart they could be. Looking at a lot of the set ups, the width of a license plate could been a good point of reference. The pipes look to be sitting right at the edges of the plate.

I"ll go 2" past to help keep the exhaust off the chrome. Just "outboard of License plate spacing" sounds good! J

Re: BRE Style Exhaust - Possible?
Am I the only one thinking that the L6 Roadster is begging for some kind of cool dual exhaust treatment?

Re: BRE Style Exhaust - Possible?
I think the original had a "daytona" style side exit (true dual routing):

Re: BRE Style Exhaust - Possible?
Are we talking Tim Arnett's Zoadster? If so, yes its mostly gone. For the most part, its a giant metal praying Mantis in his backyard now. Still, if one were to be very creative, it could be rebuilt, minus the body.
