Finally quitting smoking this year for my birthday, 50

, so won't be an issue.
So after driving it, the sound is AWESOME. It does need a passive EQ unless there is an Ipod app for EQ on the line out. Some of my MP3's are also crappy quality, so it may help that too.

Apple's iPods and iPhones do have an EQ setting for general categories like, "Rock, Classical, Pop, Loudness" etc. On my iPhone using IOS 7.1 it's under "Settings -> Music -> EQ". It's there for older generation iPods as well, just have to poke around to find it. Not certain if it applies to other programs like Pandora.

I found the EQ, but it doesn't seem to work on the line out. The regular Ipod was giving me some crackling and losing the left channel at low volume. Plugged in a Nano and it's better. Nano is easier to stash next to the seat and parking brake, so I'll use that and put the big one back in the truck.
I'll try the Nano settings and see if it works.
Update, Long road trip this weekend, sound is good top up or down, but better down..

I like the stock look , installing a FM tuner inside the original stereo that has an input from mp3 or phone is a great way to go , here is a link he does great work it looks 100% stock only way you can tell is a small blue dot in channel dial face when in FM mode

I picked up one of these...
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_023EMA255/ ... erview-tab" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And a set of these for behind the seats in the side panels (using the existing holes in the body sheet metal)...
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1131365S/K ... tml?tp=105" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Initially I'll run a cable from my iPhone/iPod to the inputs of the amp, but to stream over bluetooth I'm considering this...
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_822BTREC/M ... ml?tp=8395" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Now to find some time to install it all...and see if I need to add a small sub woofer that can tap off the amp's line out jacks...

That's exactly what I did. My amp is hidden under the dash, the speakers are in the usual spots, and the 10" sub is in the trunk. The crossover and gain for the sub are all controlled on the amp. Volume and equalizer are all controlled right on my iPhone.

I'm wondering how the Kicker bluetooth PXiBT50.2 would be with a set of Miata seats with the built-in headrest speakers. Bluetooth means, my iphone can stay in my pocket.

Bumped into this surfing around today:

It's apparently a fully waterproof wired remote with 2 line display that's approximately 3" for marine applications. I think it would look awesome in the ash tray position that I have blanked out on my center console.
Kris.

I purchased a 2 channel ipod mini amp from Woody's Custom Shop on ebay for about $60. I installed in inside my glove box, still leaving some usable space. I put a set of Kicker KR525 5" speakers behind the seats in the dog legs. Clean install and plenty loud, I can even hear it on the highway. The top boot can even cover the speakers when parked and the ipod cable just goes back in the glove box. My ipod has a neoprene case, so it does not slide around the center console unless I am really hard in the corners.
