Just painted last weekend. Got the doors and fenders also. Still need to sandblast and bodywork the bed.

On a scale from 1-10 how hard is painting? I'm planning on painting one of my dad's roadster, the white 67. I already got a gokart to practice painting with, and i don't feel like i will be ruining something pretty in case something goes south.

Painting is not hard, making it look good takes some time. As to not jack zippys post too much, do a search on painting and look for posts by Enrique. While he is no longer with us, he gave some excellent advise on painting. If you still have questions, start a new thread. Oh, just for the record, my truck is painted with a single stage acrylic enamel. Color is Ford grabber blue.

The PO put an L18 with a 5 speed in mine. I should be ready for paint by mid October and will spray it myself the stock turquoise in a 2 stage paint. My buddy Chucks66 had his 67 1/2 2000 painted that grabber blue from ford. I think it is one of those colors you either love or hate. It is so close to the stock color but I want to try and keep it the original color for resale. I should have some new pics soon as the cab bodywork is nearly done as well as the new fuse block and wiring.

Here are some updated pics. I have nearly all the bodywork done on the cab and am in the process of stripping the bed. I am stripping the flat outside areas myself and then will have the crevasses and inside of the bed soda blasted to save time. I installed an electric fuel pump as the stock one gave out and I have yet to find a rebuild kit for it. My friend Emily has been installing the new fuse block and harness to replace the mess that was 40 plus years of PO's cutting into the wiring. We have removed the mess under the dash and even got it to run again this weekend. We will sort out the exterior lights, dash lights and heater motor next weekend and that should finish the wiring!

Most of the Nissan fuel pumps of the era are the same head with different arms. That being the case, a Roadster fuel pump rebuild kit may do you right.

It is finally painted and I have started to piece it back together. I should have the cut and buff done this next weekend. Here are some pics of the painting process. I did an etching primer first as I took it down to bare metal. I then shot a sealer primer then the base and finally 4 coats of clear. It should withstand many years of driving before it needs another paint job!

I figure I better do a little updating. I finished cutting and buffing the truck and am starting to put it back together. I am waiting on the seat and door panels to get done as well as the front bumper to be chromed and the grille polished. I have a couple more things to order and a few things I have ordered that need to show up. I couldn't find a set of bumperett mounts so I fabricated my own and finished putting them on. The rear looks finished with them and the new tail lights installed. I even made a bracket for the new washer bottle. I used a squirter from an early VW bug as they both use a single squirter. I put the radiator in a couple weeks ago. I used one from Champion Cooling (I am a dealer for them so I got it at cost) and had to use one for a 510 but it fit really well.

nice tucking of the bumperettes. that radiator looks great, definitely get a shroud for it, even if that was not stock, and even if it is only a top shoroud, like the..... z cars, what has that partiial top/bottom shrouding, I don't remember now.
Looks great, love that color.
