Making some good progress on 218 Bob! It's a lot farther ahead than 275 that's for sure.

Can't wait to see your car all painted.

Cheers

I spent most of the day aligning the fenders, hood, and trunk. It took me almost all day to get the door gaps and alignment to my liking. I have a bunch of 2L grilles and no two are alike. This is the best fitting one.

I didn't like how tight my hood gap was next to the cowl section and all the adjustment in the hood hinges was taken up. The car had the valance on both sides pushed in about 1/2" inch. So I made myself a spreader tool to push the front center section with hood hinges back out to the original location. Now my hood gaps near the cowl are the same as the side gaps. (sorry about picture orientation, they are correct on the PC, but cant get it right on here)

I also made a huge mistake with my fender, so I spent most of today correcting it. My NOS left fender needed the holes for the emblems drilled in it. I made a template from the right fender and used it as mirror image for the left side. Well that does not work!! I was not thinking and drilled the holes. So I had to weld up the wrong holes, prime, block, prime, and then redrill emblem holes.

I didn't care for the black spokes on the Libres, so I taped up the wheels and bead blasted the spokes back to a "as cast" finish. I like it a lot better.

I have been working on smoothing the metal out with a hammer and dolly. Also have been learning how to use a slapping spoon to removed dents. Its slow, but coming along. I have all the panels aligned and have test fitted the side trim and installed the bumpers to make sure all my items fit as they should before sending off to chromers. I will block it and prime it two more times before disassembling the car again to paint each panel and in all the hidden areas.

beautiful job on aligning the rear of the bonnet to the cowl valence. Always irks me that Nissan could have got that last 1/16th sorted to match - but didn't.

Tight shut lines on all openings make all the difference - especially where the rear of the front fender meets the window. Tough curve to sort - but if sorted - WOW

Wheels look good Bob. I have been trying to decide weather blast my Empi's or not. I like the original flat grey finish but they are getting dirty and stained. Did the tape do a good job of protecting the lip?
