My modification to the tranny tunnel is complete. Notice I incorporated a break in the new panel on the trailing and top edge. I used a break on the trailing edge so I could achieve the extra space required for the 6 speed without removing the factory U-shaped stiffener inside the tunnel.
We almost always cut the U-stiffener out of the trans tunnel to aid in the installation and removal of the engine/trans-- I got so tired of having the trans hang up on that brace-- I admire that you kept it, but I look forward to hearing how well the engine/trans install goes when you bolt it in for the final time!
Great job on the mods-- keep up the good work!

Not sure what you mean Alvin.
Regarding the U stiffener being an obstacle, I may make the shifter hole panel a bolt-in rather than weld-in and remove it for more room to drop and raise the tail of the tranny before it reaches the mount on the frame.

This is the underside view of the tunnel mod for the 6 speed after undercoating.

Oh yes, the prelude mod. It was so long since I posted that, I forgot about it. I was referring to the Z32 brake upgrade. I've ridden in a SR20DET roadster and decided a good brake upgrade is a necessity with that much more power. It needs "whoa" with that much "go".

Gary what a great a great build!! Very cool and with a 6 speed to boot.
I also have a 70. Are your fenders flared out? Mine don't have such a nice flare and I have tear drop side indicators. Either way looks as strong as the SR20 is going to make it!!
Keep it up!

Matthew, I had my fenders and quarter panels flared to make room for wider rubber for autocross. Should come in handy for the new power. Typically the teardrop side marker lights are on the '69. Are they retrofits?

That frame should look sharp with your blue paint! Nice.

I totally understand painting frames black to "hide" them, but have always liked light colors so you can see what's going on much easier. Where are the oil drips and runs, or dirt or cracks or what ever coming from.
I like it!

White is odd I admit. However, the white paint revealed 3 serious cracks in the factory welds I would have never seen if the frame was black.
