There is much to be gained by doing this project, especially if you have never done one. It is a real world lesson on life... Evaluation, planning, problem solving, overcoming frustration, learning a lot of patience and how to budget. I learned more from this car about all that than from my graduate education on psychology. I regularly refer to the restoration as a metaphor on life. A Miata is just a car: a Roadster is a life companion.

So finally i got the mirrors, and i have to admit they are really nice looking.

Greg is right. The Miata is just another car. Sure they are fun but nothing like a Roadster.

My son bought my '66 when he was in the Marines. After getting out, he was waiting for his Z to be shipped back in, and the Roadster's gages were out to be rebuilt. I gave him the keys to my Miata to drive..... After his Roadster was back on the road, he threw me the Miata keys and he never wanted to drive it again. He said the Roadster is sooooooo, much more fun to drive.

The Miata now sits (it is a nice '89 #366, 62K miles). I have given it to my daughter and at 14 we use it to teach her to drive with a clutch (and doing great). When she drives my Roadster, I am doomed.....

Keep up the good works on the Roadster - you will never regret it!!!

I purchased a '97 Miata two springs ago as a stop gap until my Roadster is finished. Sorta fun, but no soul. I didn't run two tankfulls of gas through it that summer. A guy offered me a couple of hundred $ more than I paid for it and it was gone. The cash is much better spent on the idle Roadster.

Miatas are fine but the "modern equivalent" of the roadster is the Honda S2000 in my opinion. I still haven't been able to part with my Honda.

I'm curious about the later Toyota MR2 convertibles, anybody drive one of them?

Getting off topic, but I drove the new Toyota/Subaru. It was better then the Miata as far as soul goes. It did try and talk to me when driven hard and came away with a good grin - but not the Roadster grin we all know and love (and hard to explain to our wives.. )

Well the process has been a little slow this week. So i thought the only way i could keep you entertained was by asking questions.

Does anyone know if this header is home made or professional made?



Any good reason why this fuel pump has jap written on it I do know it's the factory model, probably thats the answer to my question.

The header looks like the JC Whitney one I bought around 1974 or so. It actually worked fine for many years.
