Is there an ID plate to the right (sitting in the car) of the hood latch receptacle? The engine block should have a number stamped on it too. Is there a number in the left front corner of the dashpad? Can you tell if it had two backup lights? or one?

Ok so it's been a while since I updated so here goes. I have the serial number. I have finished all the wiring in my garage and the beer fridge is running and full. I pulled the body off the frame last night and was pleasantly surprised at the condition of the frame in general. I now have to get myself a welder for the frame modifications. So here's hoping the financial gods are generous to me here in 2012. I'll get some pics up as soon as I can for all y'all.

Cheers.

hey everyone. I have a few quick pics for y'all.

Found out that upon closer inspection that both sides of the car below the doors from fender to fender is covered in fibreglass. I'll get pics of that up soon as I would like some knowledgable opinions on how bad it is. I don't mind forming and welding in new panels, but it will be slow and there will be a steep learning curve. Anyhoo, the body's off and now I can get down to work.

Cheers, Errol!

The pictures you posted are pretty small, I can't really see any detail.

RE-try. Still learning this site, even though I spent way too much time on here waiting for people to post new stuff.

The little box says both sides are fibreglass in these sections.

Much better size wize, but still tough to tell what is going on. I think you basically have to break away the fiberglass to see what's underneath. That is a fairly structural area, and I would want it at full strength. The front part, in the fender area looks pretty good, and I think that might be the toughest area to repair. Now I say all this with the conviction that I would have it done, but I would have to farm out the work and pay the big bucks cause at this point in time I don't weld.....

Haha yeah I don't weld either but I'm gonna, just as soon as I get a welder. And it's all gotta come out, I agree. However I need to talk to my sheet metal guy and get him to form me some new ones first. I would post the pics of the fiberglass but I'm at work and I can't do it on my phone.

Cheers Errol.

Ok everybody, quick update. I recently decided that I have almost no money to put into this car for a bit so this is going to be a budget build for now so I can drive this little beast hopefully this summer. So I am goin to take the PO's word on a couple things. He said that the guy he got the car from rebuilt the bottom end. And judging by the brand new looking frost plugs I am going to take his word on it. And I know he had the top end redone. So I have decided to throw the engine back together and get her runnin if I can. The worst that is going to happen is it doesn't run and I have to rebuild when I have money. So happy footballing everyone and I'll keep y'all posted.

Happy super bowl.

Cheers, Errol.

Been a while 311s.org-ers. So I acquired a free ka24de and 5 speed tranny recently and I am going to pick it up next week. So I should be posting some pics soon for all the picture junkies. Gonna put it in and get it going for next year and then work on the turbo system after. Maybe peel It apart the next winter and rebuild with forged internals. I dunno. The possibilities are endless at this point. And on this day as the nerds say 'may the fourth be with you'!

Ok. Quick update.

Make tranny mount! Check!
Notch crossmember for future sr20. Check!
Weld the sh*t outta everything in my path? Check.
The progress on this engine swap is coming along at breakneck speeds. (about 4 hours a week). But progress is bein made. Now I need to bite the bullet and spend the money on brakes.

Pics on their way. Just as soon as I sit down at a real computer.

Cheers~Errol.
