Been there, done that. It's a lot easier with a plasma... but it sure can be done with simple tools if you need to!

I rented sprisos jig in FEB, and around that time checked into powdercoat,,,I thought it would be $1000. I was shocked actually, to find out that JB Sandblasters and PowderFab in Arlington Wa would do it for $450! Frame and front suspension components. I probably could have taken a few more pieces as well, but just didnt have them ready. I usually blast and paint my own stuff, but 450? well worth it. saved ALOT of time, and should be more durable.

Finally got my hubs and studs done,, Thanks Eric B my datsun mentor (Nice mill too), David Patten of FUTO FAB, and Dean. A true roller this time, I had to drop the SR20DE in, (coaxed by Michael) Driveline next, then some homework on the plumbing, electrical and such. No turning back. bodywork/paint will take 2 years MAX,,,Back in 03, I painted Erics 660z(403ci), that took 2 years, but Im ten years older now. ugh

What suspension(lowering springs/shocks) are you using for front/rear? I thought i saw some gr2's then gas in another pic?

It had old Nissan comp springs and big swaybar and konis on it, I used the bar and springs. Gas adjust onthefront, gr2 on the rear stock springs on the rear. Using what I have for now, the shock combo worked Great on VWs ( gas rear gr2 front, rear engine). It's not going to the track. We'll see how it works if it ever hits the street !!!

Cold and rainy day,,,in July! I didnt wanna work on the dash,,,,,didnt wanna sand Andy hmm, I did something EASY,,,bolted on the SPRISO alt bracket, and W/P pulley,,easy.
Pulled the front pulley,,,gonna lathe the front and rear belt grooves.

Meaning you have a 3 groove balancer and a 4 groove belt? My situation anyway. I'm going to try Ratsun for a bit of help on possible interchange... If there is one. Looks sweet.

The stock sr20 balancer has accommodations for 3 belts. I only need one. Perpetual balance in Arlington will be the next stop.
You are getting close to driving, I hope august is nice!

Yea , I'm ordering up an intake snorkel tonight which should allow me to start it when I finish a bit of wire intagration. Long road. I'm sure the payoff will be well worth. I still need a brake up-grade for front. Been waffeling a bit on that. I'll have made a decision by Oct. anyway for some more off season activity.

My vote: 300zx conversion... I am in the process myself! Great parts availability, great stopping power, great heat distribution, and it's cool as hell, too!

Cool. I have all my parts together for the ZX swap as well - except for the hoses and cross-over host fittings. Where did you get yours Tom?

Whoa, I'm sorry I missed this thread! Very awesome detailed build! You are moving very quickly too, I'm kicking myself for not doing a frame off.. it just seems like it would have been easier at this point!! haha (although probably more time consuming).

Well, two of the rear bumper bolts were broken off and I couldn't get at them,, "while I'm there" syndrome
whuuut ,,, seriously. Frustration was setting in, well it felt like I was painting over 3 paint jobs,,, so I just went " down to bare metal". It's been really fun so far. Rejuvenating, great therapy.
It's inspiring and informative for me to see yours and other projects progress as well.
