Double bummer Scott. And almost home. Deer are a hazzard around here too. Looks like it was a really hard hit! Glad you are OK.

Man that stinks Scott, glad you're ok. By the way that's the wrong kind of DEAR you're suppose to hook up with on Valentines' Day. ...mike

Wow, another adventure, only not a good one. So sorry to see this but really glad you are fine and that this was not a catastrophic event!

Because this is a Hollywood story anyway, what about trying to get a fender from the Roadster faithful so that it can be popped on, a bit of spot painting and off you go?
Where are you now ?

That's some tough luck. What part of Utah did you donate that carcass to? I may be stopping through Vegas on my way to Solvang. I'll look you up.

I have a headlight ring for the cause if yours is antlered.
Glad to hear you are in one piece... Thankful that wasn't an elk up near Jasper. Mind you, you might have driven right underneath the elk...

He was tired of BBQ cuisine anyway.

Instead of a season to hunt them, there should be a bounty on deer. I'm glad you're okay, as you said it it could have been worse and I have seen them go thru the windshield. I've enjoyed following your blog and have been inspired by it. This certainly won't be the defining moment.

It was just south of Koosharem, UT, at twilight, in a farming valley. Pretty much exactly the wrong place at exactly the wrong time...I had to stand on the brakes on two more occasions within 10 miles of the hit to avoid other groups of deer crossing the road. Plus the jackrabbits were equally suicidal. It was not a lot of fun, but it could have been way worse.
If you're interested in the exact location for some fresh venison:
38°29'10.50"N, 111°53'16.73"W

I'm in Kanab, UT, but probably only about 10 days from being home, so I'll probably just finish the trip with a bit of a black eye. It'll certainly make for an interesting blog entry, anyway.

There's the valley, with a good stretch for the deer to gain speed/velocity.
And the overhead view is way rural, wow.

I know the area very well. My family is from the small town of Antimony, just south of Koosharem. Deer are certainly an issue down there. Too bad you're not closer, we could throw a fender on her real quick.

Wow Scott, so relieved to see you're ok. I've been close, but like so many of the "suicidal" I work with they have changed their mind and missed my car (with my patients its usually when they sober up).
When I was at WSU we had a tragic accident where two guys in a 240z hit a horse. Unfortunately their 4pt harnesses did not allow them to duck, and the horse took the whole top of the car off.
Very sorry to see this Scott, but what matters is you're ok, and the car can be repaired. As you say, an interesting addition to the blog! I'm sure it will be part of the epic Nissan commercial I just know is in the works.
