First off, thanks Nissanman for the dipstick photo.

Okay, here we go again. I came across some NOS trunk locks with flip-lids on them. The part number doesn't match the roadster sequence but I think they might work anyway but again, all my cars are 68's. I don't know what the 65 - 67 trunk locks should look like so can someone post a picture? Heck, I don't even know if the 65 -67 trunk locks have flip-lids!

Sorry if the photos are too large - I just figured out how to attach a photo and don't know how to downsize them yet.

Thanks, Paul

The 65-67 locks look pretty much like the later locks but without the stainless cover. That lock looks like a lock for a truck or old sedan or something. Do you have the keys? How much will you be selling them for? I know of a few applications that I could use these on...

No, those are not for a roadster-- like Sid said, they look like a gas door lock for a pickup-- send me a PM you want to get rid of one, my truck could use one!

I saw on the TechWiki, that you can replace the OEM studs with Nissan studs, but all it lists is the part number. Can anyone tell me what car they are for?

I am installing a new clutch slave cylinder and it appears that the only thing holding the release arm on the push rod is the slave cylinder spring, is this correct? The nut on the push rod provides a stop position and the spring holds the release arm against this stop?

Thank you,

I messed up...

I forgot to loosen the main crank bolt before I removed the flywheel and put the engine on the stand. Is there any way to loosen this bolt or am I screwed and have to put the flywheel back on the engine (after first taking the engine back off the stand)?

Thanks!!

Put two or three bolts on the the flywheel side of the crank, use a long screwdriver or breaker bar between the bolts to hold it still, then remove the crankshaft bolt from the front. This will require help. Good luck!

If you'e not too picky about possibly messing something up, you could try putting two of the flywheel bolts back in 180* apart (how far out they will have to stick will be trial-and-error), put something REALLY solid between them (like a giant screwdriver or a crow bar) and wedging that against part of the engine stand. Make sure your brace doesn't contact the flywheel bolt threads. Viewed from the back of the engine, the left side of the brace will go up (clockwise).

A quick shot with an impact gun will loosen the front crank bolt. Lacking air tools, a 27mm socket (as I recall) and a long flex handle or such should break the bolt loose. A long, steady pull will put more strain on the brace than a quick, sharp pull. Don't use a hammer, and for pete's sake, whatever method you choose, BE CAREFUL!

edit: Tom beat me to it.

Success! But man do my hands and arms hurt now!

Since I was not able to get to the rear of the crank to try to install a couple flywheel bolts, I ran a bunch of loops of re-bar tie wire between a hole in the pulley and the alt mount. This was enough to keep the crank from turning.

The crank bolt was so tight I almost gave up and dropped the motor off the stand to re-install the flywheel; especially since my impact wrench had no effect.

Thankfully that is part is done. With any luck the rest of the strip down is all down hill.

Step one of my stroker (the block and new pistons) will hopefully go to the machinist this week!

Thanks for the quick replies guys!!!

Where do the stock horns on a '66 mount? I have looked all over for any extra holes up front near the grille but nada.
