Shimmed out the lower hinges with some washers to raise the door enough to correctly hit the striker plate. Moved the door striker around multiple times until I could close the driver door and make it click into the second latch position. Cursed at the rust area at the base of the "A" post (behind the lower hinge) and dreamed of a way to put a plate behind it to give it more support. That dream will have to wait a while, I just want to drive it!

Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters o
Today I:
Broke in my cam
Made some poor carburation adjustments (might be worse than when I started
Tightened a leaky lower radiator hose and re-soldered my reservoir (again, found a new crack)
Put my drivers seat back in
Drove my car around just a little
I definitely need my O2 sensor hooked up and some Solex tuning/jetting.

drained the trani and rear end fluid. Filled both back up, but I think it was less than the specs, so I will have to see if I can get more into them both.

Jim, there is a baffle in the axle housing, have a beer and check fluid level in the morning!

Pebbles;
I didn't know that, thanks. The baffle might be very slow to allow that incredibly thick fluid past it. I had that beer like you suggested...good advice on both cases.

Primed the car for the second time. I have been hammerin with the dolly and slapping spoon for a long time. I got it closer and shot it a second time with the primer. Now to block it and do all over again.

Spent about 30 mins. with a torch and scraper cleaning off just a small section of undercoating on the bottom of the car. Decided despite my goal of doing all I can myself this is a job for a pro, so loaded the body on the trailer and made an appointment with the blaster.

This weekend was devoted to my wife's sister's wedding in Santa Cruz. The roadster did great getting there and back, plus it had a bit of a showing down the main drag of town, with quite a few thumbs up and well wishers, along the way.
Bought a tee shirt there that reads Help Keep Santa Cruz Wierd. Tried my very best.

I did some carb tuning over the weekend and drove to the gas station for the first time in 12 years. the cars exhaust is open past the headers so I woke up most of the neighbors as I drove a few laps...

Made some updates to the rear of the car. I installed a Odyssey PC925 to the under side of the car near the strut rod in void near the rear axle. Installed Koni rear shocks, and drilled and plated rear rotors.

First time to a gas station in 12 years!
Were you surprised how much it has gone up?

Re: What did you do TO or FOR your Datsun today?(Roadsters o
For my car I put together a wire order to start building another set of harness. Saturday went and got the lights on a 69 working for an owner and low and behold I got them all working. The owner then fixed the rest of the butchered wires after I left. 69 is a pain to figure out even with a schematic. Fuse box is a bit of a flaky deal.
Then worked on Greg's harness for a bit.
On a side note, anybody have experience with a 3D printer for manufacturing parts and if they hold up? Was thinking about an upgraded fuse box with modern fuses that looks like the original.

66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

Called in to the Body Shop this morning to give Scott some fasteners and took a few pics. of the shell.
He has almost finished prepping the body proper.
He is now repairing the boot lid rust out at the trailing edge and will then move on to repairing the bottom section of both front guards with the patch panels I supplied.
Little car looks MUCH happier

Both rear 1/4s have been massaged into shape.

Trial fitting of the repaired boot lid is next, followed by the front guards.

Looking forward to painting the little girl when I get back from a wee holiday

^ Make sure the arch of the grille and hood match prior to paint...it makes a big difference.
