1. Why don't you have the holes already?
2. I used rubber tubing on the badge pins. Then you can easily dismount them for polishing the paint etc.

Still can't locate a nut that will go on the M10x1.25 threads coming off the flex line from the block Right now I'm looking at maybe having to hook up a different gauge but I'd like to keep and use the original one

#1 Is there a template or location to drill the holes?
Put it where YOU want.
I think there are two fairlady badges. 1 early OEM japanese style, and an aftermarket that fits existing DATSUN holes. Which one do you have?

Lorna,
just to be clear - AFAIK

I doubt that there is a nut that you can BUY that will work for you.

You will need to get someone to send you an old piece of the appropriate hard line, then cut your hard line just before the flare. Remove and replace the nut.

Then go to AutoZone and rent (or buy to add to your collection) the appropriate one of these : https://www.autozone.com/loan-a-tools/flaring-tool

I'm not saying this is the ONLY way, but it is the ONLY way I know. and failing all else, the way I would go.

I believe that the 'NUTS' are NPT, but I am sure that one of the experts here will advise/correct me.

Best of luck.

Pete

See you at Solvang.

Johnscf-
You might find a AN tube nut/sleeve, etc here:
https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/advca ... D=PLUMBING
A 3/16 tube should be a -3, common on brake fittings. Most parts stores would have Nicop brake like lengths.
AN tube nuts are good on copper or Nicop, I wouldn't use them on a steel line.

Here’s the pic I posted in my thread

The holes on my rear panel were welded up so I have to start from scratch. I can’t really tell where the original holes are from the backside

if your 'fairlady' badge is 'script', personally I like it at an angle. If you are going to add the 1600/2000 then straight 'cos it looks wierd somehow.
IMHO

Perhaps you can see inside the trunk where the welds were??

If straight, approximately in line with the gap between the lights, if angled, then the midpoint should again be between the lights.

Check out the thread 'cool license plates' - there are a ton of datsun 'asses' there for you to get some idea of position.

But as said, it is YOUR car.

So the purists won’t grab their pitchforks at Solvang? I’ve seen what they do to people when their fuel cap is on incorrectly ha ha

He probably wont be too thrilled with my (lack of) center console!..

Honestly, I dont care about pleasing purists though I will justify my annoying Mikuni Type 2s by turning up my nose and claiming that they are THE period correct Mikuni... (maybe I can convince someone to trade me for Type 5s lol)

The rubber pad is just laying on the cowl for the picture. What I want to know is, if it goes on the bottom of the hood in the small hole in the upper right corner.
