...after 24 years.
Finished fiddling with the carbs and took her out for her first drive in a VERY long time. Felt great! Yes, there's still lots to do, number one being an alignment! But, she finally runs and drives. Went to the gas station and the hardware store, where 3 employees had to come outside and geek out over the Datsun. One was a young kid who totally loved it. Restored my faith in today's youth.

Well done!
Finally some car time that doesn’t involve blood, burns, bruising or cramping-up

Well, I went out of town for a few days and brought home a souvenir - Covid. So far my symptoms aren't too heinous, so I'm making lemonade out of these lemons and quarantining in the garage.
I finished cutting and welding the rest of the exhaust: up over the axle and to the polished resonator at the back. Not 100% happy with the megaphone tip I bought, so I'm waiting on that for now. I'll either modify it to my liking or find a new one.
Please don't make fun of my welds - I'm sick, remember?
Also got a package in the mail from Dave Premo - jets, nozzles, and needle valve shims to start fine-tuning my Mikunis. I guess I can still go for test drives. Since my car has only 1 seat in it, it's covid-safe!

Hope you recover soon (but get to drag it out so you can work on the car as long as you want!)

Erik,
Hope your feeling better. The welds look great from the photo. The muffler looks like the old BSA 659cc motorcycle ‘pea shooter’ style of the ‘60s.
How does sound ?? Does it thump against the floor pan?

That is the resonator in the photo (the one out by the gas tank). There is also a muffler ahead of it, under the driver's seat area. It does have that same BSA/Triumph pea shooter look, but since this is 2.25" pipe, it's more like a lemon shooter.
I think it sounds great. The resonator mellows the tone and takes the sharp crackle out of the exhaust note. Still loud enough to let everyone know you mean business, but not so loud that the neighbors start a petition.

You mean like firing up a 1967 Mustang, 428, 5 speed, running straight through glass-pack mufflers at 5 AM on a Sunday
