Gave myself a day off and went for a drive. Beautiful sunny 1C day, perfect top down weather. I even noticed the engine pulling a little stronger breathing the cold dense air!
One the way back home I stopped off at Sports Imports to see Ross's current builds. In progress was a nice "sea foam green" 2000. I was most impressed with Ross's new sheet metal tooling to form front and rear floor boards. Cars will be saved!

It was a brisk 25-degrees F when my son AJ and I left the house at sunrise to drive up to Wilsonville for Cars & Coffee-- but a nice big cup of hot chocolate and some beautiful rides heated things up for us-- it was all over by 10am, and we went up to PDX to do a little x-mas shopping-- all-in-all, a great day out with lots of thumbs up from people and quality time with my son!

Amazing pic Michael! Does your little guy share your passion for Datsuns? Or is he just happy for the one on one time? My girls are finally old enough that I have been able to take them for a spin in the Figaro... I am going to outfit the 69 with a harness bar over the winter I hope so I can put some proper belts in it and then take them for roadster rides in the spring...

David,
We are setting the hook with AJ-- he LOVES anytime we can take the car out, and he is starting to work more and more with me in the shop (albeit for short amounts of time), but I am not forcing him-- just letting him decide what and how he wants to work, and I'm working on making sure that it is a teaching experience each time. He did just start MIG welding with me a few weeks ago, so we get another lesson in every weekend. I'm taking the slow and soft approach and we will see what sticks...
He does want to build a Miata for himself (and I'm all for that), so who knows what the future will bring!

Very nice for sure and great touch with the jacket. You have much to be thankful for!

I DROVE some Datsuns this weekend!
I know some of you are lucky to own a Z car in addition to the roadster. A friend of the shop let me take his Series 1 S30 for a spin:
I've driven a completely bone stock '72, but this one is a totally different animal. 3L stroker w/triple Mikunis, full suspension, Recaros and a KA24 trans. It just feels incredible. Every shift gives you a huge surge forward, the torque is incredible. Steering/chassis are so wonderful. Makes the roadster feel like a wind-up toy. I get it now. I do want one
