We have a winner, the sound was as if it was hitting twice in one rotation, and I can see witness marks on the wheel weights that are on opposite sides of the wheel.

Took off the wheel and the clip that holds the pads in place is hitting the weights.

So I have about a year to make my car more presentable for Regular Car Reviews. Maybe I should at least fix the exhaust leak? Working GPS speedometer?

Nice find, I found my weights were just touching the brake line once, equally annoying but much more serious!

A long while back someone asked to see the trim rings for my gauges. I had to pull one to measure the size so I can put in a working GPS speedometer, and the tach was easiest to pull. They're 3-3/8ths inches.

They came with the car, I believe the previous owner had them cut on a lathe, they're very sharp along the edge.
Got the new VDO speedometer and Veethree GPS, took some head scratching as the documentation from VDO was poor.
It's not all buttoned up but I did take it for a spin. In this video it takes a couple seconds to get a solid signal, so it thinks I'm doing 55 in my driveway.

Finally got some time to remove my center console and install the sliding ashtray lid. Screws that worked were I believe 6-32 computer case screws, although they might be M3? Also a while back I used 3 case screws for the horn button, I believe those were M3. In any case, if you've ever owned a computer, you'll have spares somewhere.
I painted the frame black a while ago because it was rusty, but the lid is nice and blindingly chrome.

I swapped out the worn and terrible ignition switch the PO used. Before and after.

I'm not dead yet! The weather has just been rain for the last couple weeks, I even missed out on my local car show this year. But I've been busy!
I've replaced the rubber clutch hose, put on a non-dented bumper overrider, changed the engine and trans oil, got an actual battery tray and lined it up with the holes the previous owner drilled in the trunk, repaired my radiator over flow pipe and one of the mounts, and today I swapped in a console lock and nicer tray. I also have a new cellphone, which is why all there are now vertical pictures.
