Check the ground on the VR... Remove sand to bare metal, reattach, tighten

Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

I cut out the back corner to prep for replacement and removed about 20% of the paint/Bondo from the car.

Well ... I took off my upper radiator hoses and torqued my
crankshaft pulley nut to 144 ft/lbs. Method Pete Harrison suggested worked well.
Took me a few swings to get it. 120 than 125 ... 5 at a time to 144. Had to reposition the nut a couple of times
Fourth gear words the best
P1030824.jpg
Installed my fan and shroud ... again ... and inserted new fuel pump. Car ran great
made it to the gas station and then ... puttered along barely made it home ... died multiple times.

Check fuel from from the new pump ... trickle trickle ...

Inserted old pump trickle trickle .... blew out the line ...
A gusher ... well I guess the gas tank rejuvenation last year was not a success.

Back at 11 ...

Volvo vented brake conversion. I had to do some custom fitting for it to work. And I had to place an order with FutoFab for their wheel spacers. Western Mesh rims do not fit with the girling calipers. They just barely scrape, as seen on the caliper with a knick in the paint.

Received the FutoFab spacers. They worked awesome. Allows the 14" Westerns to fit over the volvo calipers.

Nice progress on the spacers!

My space is a lot less fun ... as I detached my gas tank and ran a 1/8" wire through
the pickup line.
P1030825.JPG
Cleaned the inside of the tank with gasoline.
Awaiting parts and drying to reassemble. I know .. I know, I should take it to a radiator
shop and get it cleaned. Maybe the same one I took it on 6/2014.

Later for that one ...

Synched and adjusted mixture on carbs, which is something I've done at least a dozen times since I bought this car in 2013. The difference this time is that making the mixture richer actually caused the RPMs to increase for the first time since I've owned it. Until now, I had to run the mixture knobs almost all the way to the top (lean) to get maximum RPMs.

Apparently, replacing the timing gears and chain makes much more of a difference than I thought it would.
What else could it be?

First full detail since I got her a year ago.
Chased down and fixed short in park/tail lights
Installed temporary headlight/park/tail switch until parts come in next week
Installed new twisties and posties as well as new stainless cowl
Replaced glass fuses with newer blade type using adapters I picked up from OPGI. Works really well

Is it just reflection and glare or do you have aftermarket headlights of some sort? They look like multiple LEDs or something.

Thanks. I have been looking for these. The company that used to make some went out of business.

what is the advantage over the glass fuses?
just availability or are they a little more durable?
does the original cover still fit on it with those new style fuses in it?
I would think they would stick up too much.
