Here is the raw product I purchased to make up the chassis/body mounting pads.
Three meters of 100 x 9mm rubber strip.
No horse hair pads this time!

Although horse hair would have been a LOT cheaper

Horse hair! Thats what that crap was, and it looks like they used thin foam padding to insulate the inner front fender to the door pillar. Brilliant. Im supprised they didn't just shove sponges everwhere to hold moister.

Pulled the exhaust, trans mount and cut the cross member for the engine swap. Should have the motor and trans Monday from Va. and the motor mount kit from Spriso as well. Picked up a tig welder and played with it, or should I say it played with me. I did not know it would hurt so much when you grounded the filler rod to the tungston tip. I find it amazing that the human brain will let you hold on to something for so long when it is burning a hole in your flipin finger (through gloves). At least it cauderized it at the same time.........omg.

That looks good! Is that the "Cowls Protekto" stick on trim? If yes, I think I'm going to go this route too and replace the "wrong" trim on my car.

I would be interested in hearing the details of how the install went for you. Like how did you trim the ends, getting it straight tips etc...

Nice looking trim Down Under! If that's the Cowles product - it looks freaking amazing.

If it's the stainless I bet your fingers hurt from trying to get all of those tiny nuts installed in the odd nooks and crannies.

Cheers
James

Davis: great work on your rust repair! Your nephew is coming by tonight to pick up the soft top frame.

Is there a thread for "side trim" or ever "aftermarket side trim"? If not, I'd say there needs to be one since I am on the fence as to whether or not I am going to keep my side trim when I get to the body restoration stage. And any and all info on this topic is important to me...or at least will be one day.

And since I cannot seem to figure out the search engine on this site I can't find one....no surpirse there.

Yes Tim, there are a few threads. I know I made one about the Cowles stick-on trim.

Man that trim does look really really good! And that shift plate too.

David, can relate just a little though not as severe. When my friend Bill and I were first doing the EI conversion long ago, we tested it on my car. We wanted to see how much better the spark looked, so I pulled the coil wire loose, started the engine, then began seeing how far I could pull the wire away from the cap while looking at the spark... bare handed... dumb and stupid... shocks like hell and you can't let go! MSD blaster coil too. Bill just laughed and laughed...
