I am planning to plug weld it all. I debated seam welding the car to stiffen it up, but I want it to be as original as I can make it... Granted it's not original metal, but all the original spot weld holes will be welded back as they were, then some permatex to weather seal it.
I bought weld able primer that it will all get painted with, this way the inside is still primed after I weld all the bits back together again. I've never used this stuff before so it's a bit of an experiment really.
I used the weld through primer wherever I was closing an area in. It seemed to interfere a little with the weld so I turned the heat up a little. It looks like you will need to butt weld on the post ahead of the door.
Yes, that is true, the patch panels will get fully welded and I'll clean them up so you never knew they were there.
I have really been learning a lot with this car, I've bought some really fun tools to help build it as well!
I have picked up some tools for my project too. If you look back in this forum you can see some of my entries. I have been welding for a long time, but had never done any butt welding of thin steel. I started with my trunk lid, then after cutting out and replacing some pieces I took it to a friend that builds hot rods out of rusty old cars for some pointers. Where are you located PBR? you may want to fill in a profile to go with your posts.

I have done a little of this type of welding. Mostly restoring and fixing our vw bug especially when regard to replace the roof!

Today installed a restored front grill to finish off the front trim pieces. All in all, rechromed headlight buckets, front/ rear bumper, grill, and polished hood trim. Also changed out the fog lights.
Superior chrome in SJ. Came out great.

So, did you sell a kidney or some such to pay for it all?

Superior Chrome does awesome work for a reasonable price. I would use them again if and when the need arises. Mark knows how to do the frosted headlight trm rings for a 67 2 liter. He got his pointers from Mike Young. You cannot go wrong.

Mainer, I saw a red roadster in Salem NH last fall. Do you ever get off course on your way to Maine?

I actually bought my Roadster out of NH about 3.5 years ago from a guy up in Belmont. My roadster has a long standing history, just ask Dave Brick, one of the many previous owners. It lived in Maine for a year while I rebuilt the engine/trans. Since then, it has come directly down to MA via Rt. 1, and has been here ever since. I don't venture all that far with it. I make it up to Newburyport every now and then with it.
A guy I work with who lives in Candia has seen a red one out and about, but I'm not sure who it is.

Spent sunday rebuilding some 1500 carbs. I'm no ztherapy or paltech but I think they turned out pretty good.

Nice. One thing I loved about my 1500 carbs was the brass top. I didn't care so much for the complicated linkage.

Is that the choke linkage? Weird, I don't think I've ever seen the 1500 setup before.
I turned my Altima rotors this morning on the lathe.

Well done Toptech360.
Just make sure that those overflow tubes are extended down the side of the engine and vent below the sump level.
You don't want those shorties dripping fuel on your exhaust system

Thanks! Yes i need to add fuel hose to extend them down.
Looking forward to better weather to run and tune the carbs. I put new gaskets, new throttle shafts in, needles, nozzles, floats and float valves....the throttle shaft bushings are steel and most or possibly all the wear was on the shafts so I opted not to rebush at this time.
Heres hoping to a nice steady idle.
