Going by the great Wiki Tech written by Mike AKA Exit 64, I got it apart and put in the new cables, then cut the housing and epoxied the two pieces in. This is on a '67. There are fewer pieces than the one in the article, so it seems to be quicker and easier.
Does anyone have the lengths of the cable housings and the inner cable that they can post? Both the 1600 and 2000 versions.
I measured the old ones from my '67 1600 at 30 and 36 inches. The cables need to be only about four inches more.

Thanks, that should be added to the Tech wiki. Now has anyone got the dimensions for the 2000 version?

Wednesday, ran down to Ron Carter's to finish the brakes.. Got the masters installed, bled, and the car is ready to run..
Ron took it out for a quick check..
Today, got a call from Kevin, one of the bodies at the body shop was done with metal work, and ready to come off the frame to prep for paint.. Plus another was in color.. Did I want to come by and help and see? Why not..lol
When we arrived at 9am..
9:45.. Coming apart..
10:45.. Close, still need to drop fuel tank, body bolts, and rear brakes..
11:30.. We had it ready to lift, but the guys at the shop were busy..
Noon.. Done.. Ready for color on the body and chassis clean-up..
Body shop guys are starting to like these little roadsters..
Quick polish pass on the fender of one of the cars..
So as we left, there is one in red, and one in silver, one in primer, and one blocked ready for color..
Walking out of the shop, I looked at the sky, should be an amazing afternoon in the hills.. Going for a ride in the roadster..

The epoxy holds the ends of the cable housings in the two little tubes attached to the forward end of the part that mounts in the dash.

Gongora's body and paint, Pomona.
They do great work, at fair prices. Plus Dave Gongora is a total car guy; he makes things right..

Did you take both wet and dry readings?

....and have the throttle wide open.

Ok, now I feel stupid...so I'm supposed to take the cylinder psi reading with the throttle wide open? And what's the difference between wet and dry readings?

Dry is with no lubricant in the cylinders, wet is with a dose of oil to help seal the compression rings.
Usually you can squirt some engine oil into the spark plug hole to achieve that.
Make sure you have all spark plugs out of the engine before you crank it over.
Just enough rotations till the pressure gauge stabilizes, usually 3 or 4 pumps on compression stroke.
I don't think that will help to raise a cylinder that is only 30psi though

Just adding to Nissanmans explanation, if the readings go up after adding oil, than the rings most likely are the problem, if no change than the valves are the problem.

A more sophisticated test would be a leak down test described here: -
