Lovely for sure, what goes in the little hole? Not familiar I am ... must be the shift pattern, just surprised to see a hole
rather than indentation.

I drilled holes in the passenger side of the engine compartment to mount an impact cutoff switch (part in the red box).
P1030509.JPG
Also routed wires and ready to go after painting the compartment is done.
Switch will cut the power to my electric fuel pump on impact. Making my roadster safer.
The switch is simple and allows for additional power to be supplied for an override. Using the fog
light switch for this ...
Will publish pictures once the side is painted and it is installed.
Cheers

I got a new exhaust, from the headers back. I've done pretty much all of the work on this car myself, but paid a pro for this one. Gone is the exhaust rattle that drove me nuts. Gone is the change in exhaust note every time I hit a bump, due to small crack/hole in pipe. The car actually
sounds like a sports car now and the rust-colored tailpipes are just a bad memory.

Replaced the contacts part of the ignition switch on a '69-1600. One or two loose rivets. Exact fit but probably different country of origin.

Yesterday evening I started in on the hood. I knew that there would be some rust at each end of the front. I was not worried about that, but I was concerned about a crack in the paint running side to side in line with the front edge of the scoop over on the left edge. I removed the paint and filler with a 40 grit flapwheel in my grinder. removal of the paint revealed a gap in the factory lead filler under the crack in the paint. I got back at it this afternoon, and at this point I decided that it was getting serious so I went to my parts car, a 68 that I have had in storage since 1977. Removal of a little paint revealed that this one was a little worse. So it was back to the original hood. I needed to dig in so I started locating and sawing out spot welds and got the first piece out and it revealed this:
image.jpg
. Here I see that the front eight inches is lapped under the rest with about an inch and a half of overlap. It is sealed with lead on the top, but not sealed at all underneath, so it has been open to road mist for all of the time that it was on the road. So I see no way around blowing the lead off and opening it up and cleaning it. Removal of the lead revealed a big black rust opening at the seam.
image.jpg
I then removed half of the strengthening Chanel that runs front to back.
image.jpg
Locating the spot welds was difficult due to the rusted surface and cutting them out without going through the outer skin was difficult due to the thinness. But here is what it looks like now. The left side is separated and if I can get to it tomorrow I will be opening up the other side.

Those are the largest center caps I have ever seen! Please add your setup to the Wheel/tire thread

I think the title of the last pic should have been, "Ran in to pick up lottery tickets!"
Must be nice to be able to drive the '69 to get gas for the '66. Great views too!
