Thanks guys for the tips on the vinyl. Hopefully temps will get above the low seventies here in NH before too long.

Will figure that out in 3000 miles..

Hey my Daughter's Subaru has a filter sitting the same way. It's cleaner to change than
the Montana, Roadster, Porsche, Avalon, Lexus and Camry all the oil falls out of it on its own before I remove it.

Let the oil drain out of the filter before you remove it.

I spent the last several days applying JB weld epoxy to my carb heat shield both sides etc.
Seems a lot stronger than the liquid steel JB weld. Anyway I have no welder so I tried this.

Keeping the patina I am!

And the while I am at it is growing to epic proportions!

Good luck with that heat shield repair.
It is vibration that causes the cracking and methinks it still will :|

I was able to weld a re-enforcing washer at all the mount holes in the hope that would strengthen the shield from stress cracking.
A slight design flaw on Nissan's part

shoudnt this be in the "sin poll"? :smt102

seriously I have no ides what that fastens too. but me thinks Nissanman is onto something here. add a reinforcing layer of metal to both sides with the JB about .090" thick. overlapp the crack with metal about .500".

we will then poll 5 years. :smt006

I like it, and suspect Nissanman is as usual absolutely correct. Perhaps metal sutures at 90 degrees to my mini San Andreas might be appropriate. Still do not like my chances in a poll against Nissanman! And pebbles good suggestion, do you think
0.500000555 is close enough?

Alternatively, you could use a pair of thin rubber washers either side of the shield to dampen the vibrations.
They should handle the heat OK :)

Brilliant  ! I'll find some o-rings or washers today, thanks for the tip.

I replaced my window squeegees today. It's been on my list for years and I finally bought a set along with the wing/frame squeegee from Dean.

My old window squeegees were torn and probably deteriorated from my sweaty arm hanging out over the years:

Dean's squeegees are great and I love the way they look:
