Well in my case my wife can and that is the law around my house. My loving wife lets me buy all kinds of parts but another car is out of the question. Where's that acreage when I need it.

As it is right now my large practice room is covered in wiring stuff.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

Spent the last few days prepping "Barney" for the car show at ACE hardware (for charity food bank donations) this Sunday and learned how to get a photobucket account.

http://s300.photobucket.com/user/Mike_S ... sort=3&o=0

The car has never been waxed, only Mirror Glaze from Meguiars and blue magic metal polish.
Attached is one of the pics in the photobucket link scaled down.

Note the 5 dollar Chinese relays in the headlight wiring in the photobucket pics this might bump me to last place :smt004
Decided not to return to my original fuel filter and mechanical pump for this show.

To polish or not to polish the finned aluminum oil-pan .... nah ... :smt006

Cheers

I've been refurbing my wheels a little bit. I originally thought they were Appliance mesh wheels, but after a thorough scrubbing, they are Westerns. I've been hand painting in between the spokes since the original black paint is coming off. Then it gets wet sanded and buffed.

I polished my valve cover, it looks great, but it's difficult to touch the small corners in the middle.

I took Barney to the Ace car show where all proceeds go to the local food bank charity. There were more than 20 cars and Barney took 2nd place.
Sorry to let you guys down :(

Here are some pictures of some of the other entries:
I liked the 58 vet the best of all the other cars (after Barney of course).
67 Mustang fastback took first place. Some other nice cars and hot rods I did not get photos of. Mine was the only Japanese car there.

Looks nice, tried cotton swabs and I'm going to try some dremel wheel buffing pads next on mine. The corners around the Datsun letters are tough to get pristine.

I also used a dremel, but for the larger parts I used a industrial machine, I think I color the inside of datsun black.

I know it's not original, but I had the same problem as you guys, so I inlaid mine with gloss black enamel. I used black Testors model paint and a small eyedropper.

Barney did well! The valve covers look good, I like the black a lot! The R16 valve cover is one of my favorite.

oke, this how it's looks, I used a satin enamel and made it almost fluid, filled it .
And made it dry with a paint stripper and took the rest of the paint away on the polished parts.

Nice! Even have the back-up hood release. I need to get around to doing that.
