What exactly does the PCV fitting on the 2000 valve cover look like. Mine as a plastic elbow shoved into it from the previous owner and I'm pretty sure it doesn't belong. So if anyone has a photo or knows where to get one at if mine has be damaged that would be great.

Anytime I want to know what "Should be there" I start with the online parts catalog: http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun311 ... fault.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In your case I don't know that the 2000's had a PCV valve, but here is a picture of the valve cover, http://www.carpartsmanual.com/Datsun311 ... fault.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Then there are always E-Bay pictures of the engines from cars for sale. I don't have a 2000, so can't provide any definitive pictures, but I am sure someone here can chime in!

I did check that out before posting. The funny thing is though, that they do not show the part that bolts to the top of the valve cover. and i have not been able to find it on any of the vendors sites.

I did some searching around and agree, I can't find any pictures of it either, but from memory, and not having a 2000, i think it is a triangular aluminum piece that is molded into a hose fitting. Again, I'm sure someone will post something!

The early style has just a short (1/2" or so) stub of a nipple sticking up. Later ones have the bend with a ridge to help retain the hose. A wise improvement...

Rallye has them http://www.datsunroadster.com/PIC_PAGES ... 165-43.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is it possible to swap out the 68-70 padded dash with a Early flat panel dash?

Yes, several threads exist on this topic. It involves replacing the entire metal dash panels (gauges and glove box too.) Quite a few people on the forum have attacked this project.

Hold the back of the switch, behind the dash, and loosen the ring around the key entry on the face of the dash. If you tape the jaws of a pair of pliers, you are less likely to mar the ring or the dash. Remember to disconnect your battery first!
