Dennis: I was the person Vinny talked to at Solvang about the driveshaft length. When I measured my driveshaft, it was not with the centering pins installed on the leaf spring mounts. When I was pulling my engine for my engine rebuild this winter, the driveshaft had zero play. I think that, when I installed the pins, it pulled the axle in closer to the driveshaft. I cut mine 1". I will be reinstalling my rx7 diff in the next few weeks and will hopefully have solved the problem.

Hi Shannon, I thought immediately of your occurance when Dennis talked about his results. I sure hope this squares him up!

I couldn't get a stewart warner electronic tach to work off of the ecm signal wire - apparently not enough voltage. It worked fine from the coil wire on my s13.

I had to use a pull up resistor to get the electronic tach to work.

Lots of progress today. The pull up resistor was soldered in and the tach works great. I would never have figures that out myself. Thank, Shannon.
I spent much of the morning preparing my roll bar for paint. It had lots of deep scratches from the soft top frame. A friend at the gym was using something he called floss to wrap his sore arm. It is simply a one inch black rubber band and is probably useless for his arm but I thought it might be a good wrap to protect the roll bar. Fourteen feet of floss is on the way. Will let you know how it works. Another idea is floating around in my overtaxed brain. Spandex is quite expandable. What if a person was to cut the legs off a child's spandex leoptard and slip it over the scissor assembly. It would give some protection. Will be trying that too.
A pair of black/red wires was left floating around my engine compartment because there was nothing else that needed connection. After studying the wiring diagram in the Tech Wiki I found out they went to the reverse lights. Forgot I even had them. Running the wires to the reverse switch on the side of my five speed was much harder than it should have been. All the connections were soldered and the reverse lights work. I'm on a mission to get all the electrical stuff to work in my car. Never did before.

Anyone have any ideas where to put the windshield washer reservoir? Certainly won't fit in the engine compartment anymore.

There are some universal fit bottles on ebay that you could fit up inside the fender well nearer the headlamp possibly. I have been pondering this as well.

Do you have room where the old coil used to hang,
might look cool there!!

No, that is where I put the coolant overflow tank.

May have switch to a washer bag. Slim profile. Outboard of the intake plenum.

Ho w about driver side trunk well.

Have you had experience with that placement? Will the little motor send water that far? Seems like I would prefer that because it would be easy to fill.

The shortened drive shaft has been installed but cannot be test driven because my start engine button needs replacing and I blew a relay taking it out. Waiting for parts. If it isn't one thing it's another. I found your thread about your project and I thought I had bad luck but you take the cake. With only one engine and one rebuild I guess fortune is on my side.
It's been fun trying to get this old car on the road and looking good but the expense has been a killer. It is good to see that values are rising so maybe it will pay off in the end.
