It's funny, people forget these cars were designed to drive that speed all day. My 5 speed is a mystery too, find out soon enough if it works. On the advice of Mark Dent, I took the 5 speed shift lever off and flipped it around to get the shifter in the right spot for the 310 shift hole, farther forward. The cross pin is held in with a 1/16 roll pin. After 3 pin punches and 7 drill bits, the pin is out. Flipping the lever puts it in the same spot as the 1500. Now I just need to make a dogleg shift lever.

Dropping the trans mount down a hole, and hoping the driveshaft is the right length....

I'm just dying to use the chrome Hurst stick from my old Dodge, but the pickup is a good one. didn't want to "waste" the 1500 lever.

i hear there's a guy in oregon that does these trannys, Dan Garrison, anybody herd of em?. not quite sure about all the rotating, i'm just looking fwd to getting her together.
been told those 5speeds don't make that much diff anyway. it's way cool punching it at 75 and still having power to spare.
had a vet pass me slowly...the guy nodded and continued on. i gave the 68' a punch pulled around the guy at 70 or so and punched it a few times. the guy smiles and i dropped back.
the white one is a cruiser.

Hey Sid.
Robin is gonna need some 1500 stuff. she also said you know how to camo a 1600 in that 64'

Waggleboy,

Dan Garrison is a great guy and very knowledgeable. He is a wizard with Solex carbs too.

Tell Robin that I can identify a 1500 6 times out of 10, so I can probably help her. LOL!!

The trailer will be fine, use a Harbor freight 48x48 utility trailer, you get a title, and it's nice and light.
Trans is waiting in the shed, so let me know whenever.
Doing a stock resto on a 64 is a tough parts hunt, but they are cool. Luckilly mine is already altered, so I can be creative.
