Stupid question: Do you bleed the clutch system the same way as bleeding the brake system?

Yes and you can use a speed bleeder on the clutch slave cylinder also. I am not certain about the size, so double check.
It is also really worth it to get a good hose there also.
Then be sure the pin thru the clutch pedal is good, (no groove) and the pin hole is round not oval. Both affect clutch function, more than you would think.

Yes and no. Generally it bleeds easilly, similar to the brakes. Difference is it doesn't build as much static pressure. With speedbleeders, should be easy.
I've found if you have real dificulty, either gravity bleed it, or use a clamp or wood wedge to prevent the clutch fork from moving, then it has pressure like brakes. Just be careful not to bend anything

Yeah Dave, I was wondering about what you are describing, as it seems it would be easy to overcome the clutch instead of pushing the fluid out the bleed valve.
Slow and steady pedal I guess.

I thought that 68s were supposed to have 3 point seatbelt harnesses, but mine only has the lap belts. Is the shoulder harness perhaps just removed on mine? If so, where would I find the mounting points?

The mounting points are way back near the back of the parcel shelf as i recall. I can take a picture of my stock set-up and post it later this evening if you'd like.

The mounting point is at the center of the wheel arch about 1 inch above the shelf. There is a small raised portion. Bolt goes in horizontally. I think it's 7/16-20 threaded.

Two quick questions:

Wiper Posts:

Are the wiper posts painted body color or left metal finish? The posts were painted on the two cars I am making into one, but one has obviously been repainted several times, the other seemed to be original paint. What was OEM finish?


Dash Gauge Lenses:

Are the OEM gauge lenses glass or plastic? Same issue. One car has plastic lenses (which are clouded) and the other has glass with the tach having a small crack.

Wiper post's definitely not painted and the lens on the late car gauges are plastic but the early cars (up to 67.5) are all glass.

Two Questions.

On the 67 1600 there is what looks like a fuel vent interconnect tubing to the fuel inlet in the trunk and comes out under the trunk. Where is it the interconnect leads to under the trunk?


Does the U-20 flywheel have three posts for the clutch cover? I have a flywheel that has no posts and one that does and the clutch cover bolts are 5/16 threads on both.

That fuel vent hose goes from the fuel tank to a fitting mounted under the trunk. From there, it goes from the fitting (on the inside of the trunk) to the fuel filler tube. Inside of the trunk also. Hope that makes sense.

I'm not sure on the flywheel question.
