Spriso,
What size wheels will fit on the rear end? 14"+?

Another cool thing the GSL-SEs had is a watts link (I think). If the housing is already setup to run one, fabing the frame mounts wouldn't be that hard. I was exploring this option for a little while. A much more simple setup has landed next to the car however. I'll just need to weld a couple of steel plates to the frame.

Is this a direct bolt on to the drive shaft?

Yes, any 14" or larger wheel will clear the brakes.

The drive shaft yoke where it bolts to the Datsun drive shaft will have to be changed to match the Mazda flange.
Let me know if you have any other questions,

There's a whole car on ebay (bid ends 3/29) with a starting bid of $1725 with no bids yet. If you have the time and space to part it out (the wheels and tire alone should fetch $400 or $500) you might be able to break even. I don't know how to paste a hyperlink here but here's the address:

Winning bid was $2425. I'd wonder whether that would be cost effective.

Again, a search on
http://www.crazedlist.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or your local pick-and-pull yards is going to be the best bet for getting complete rear end assemblies.
I did a search for GSL-SE on crazedlist last week and it pulled one up for a guy parting out a GSL-SE in the Bay Area of California.
I do know of a guy in Portland who wants to sell a complete GSL-SE rear end, PM me for contact info.

I found that patience is important when looking for the GSL-SE rear. I started looking about two years before I thought I would be ready to install it. My search entailed checking 2-4 self-serve salvage yards every weekend. Even with that, it took me about a year to find one. I stored it for a year, pleased my fore-thought. But, after my engine swap I just wanted to drive & have storage space, so I sold it.
Jesse.

What would a compete rear end for a GSL-SE go for if one could be found? Any guesses?

Aw, crap.
Additionally, North America was the only market to have offered the first generation RX-7 with the fuel injected 13B, model GSL-SE.
There goes that option. My bank account will thank me. My car won't.

I shouldn't tell you this...because you might just beat me to it. But then my wife would be happier as I wouldn't come home with a rear end that I won't even use for a few years. The U-pull here in Albququerque says it has two 84 GSL-SEs.

Search the inventory...
the price list suggests a little over $100, although they might try to charge for the disks/calipers as well.
