2 questions: What kind of car is Leno in? and Chris, have you gotten your car painted yet? If so, is it in the pics?

I think Leno's car is a 1964 Honda. Pretty nice looking car.

Hey Tood,
Leno is in a '64 Honda SM600. Yes I got my car painted, it is now complete all but a inside door pull. There are pictures in the photo gallery. Hope all is well.

Chris

Are we getting too old or was moving it to Lion Country the reason for no cheesecake? :smt017

How was the turnout (cars and people) compared to previous JCCS events?

In my opinion the turn out was just ok. My understanding is they changed the venue because they needed a larger area. And now with the enconomy going south the turn out was not as expected. Still some very nice cars, but you really can't beat the Queen Mary as a venue regardless of the turn out.

I wasnt too pleased with this venue either. The roadster area was over in the farthest most corner from the speakers. Couldnt hear the music or announcer. Also, we had to drive over a dirt road to get to our location, very dusty. Plus cars that drove over the dirt road next to us sent the dust on our cars. The Queen Mary location is a much better and scenic location. At least you can walk to the ship for some decent food. All they had at the Irvine location was Carl's Junior and Louisiana sausage. A chili burger at 8:00 AM, just doesnt make it. Maybe they should have less cars and go back to Long Beach.

I wasn't that impressed with the venue. I like the Queen Mary site but maybe it is expensive.
Another site might be Woodley Park in Encino, CA. There are lots of car shows there, and Jay shows up too :) It's not far from Burbank airport and there is food, golf, bike paths etc around also.

These types of sites have the advantage of attracting walk-in traffic too.

You don't have to sweat it unless Alvin starts posting pics of beefcake... :Tosser:

In the link to Leno's garage above, the roadster actually gets honorable mention at the very end.

By the way, for any of you near the San Fernando Valley-who happen to be in to Euro Trash cars- there is a meet coming up at the beginning of November. There are usually some real nice Alfas, Ferraris, Renaults, Citroens etc.

Nope. That was the one exception.

A number of Datsun guys (other forums) felt the marque was kinda shoved off to the side/corner. It was also mentioned that the way all the cars were parked (herded?) made it difficult to get as good pics.

Hope the organizers got good feedback.

Did someone say beefcake?

Seriously though, I didn't like the venue either. They split up the Datsuns all over the place, at least the roadsters were together but c'mon! I really liked the Queen Mary.
Poor Jay Leno. He's not a Datsun-friendly dude (though he claims a roadster was his first car), and he looked so disappointed throughout the day...can't blame him when you are being interviewed for "riceboy.tv"

ONe more thing, our crew was discussing that they should only let in show cars, so the nice cars outside could be shown instead of letting in so-so's and filling up registration, like this one:

this is uncalled for.
