Vinh,
What you pay $120 for a tin of spray chrome? crikey it's only $24 in Australia.

Hey Burt,
I replied that I have one of the regulators, but not the specific type you want. If you are interested, let me know.

I don't see anyone here doing anything more than discussing the topic. If anything, it seems you are stirring the pot with shots like this.glamoor wrote:

Vihn had his bumpers chrome plated, not rattle caned. He just chose to do his in a more cost effective way for him. This will last a lot longer than "spray chrome". Let me preface this. I don't know the going cost for chrome plating where you are. Having said that, $530 (converted) IS expensive for a rechrome, but could be fair if the bumpers require a lot of work to straighten. If the bumper is a good core, then I would try and find a more reasonable shop.glamoor wrote:Vinh,

Re: Stainless steel bumpers
Interesting. I prefer the warmer look of stainless to chrome. Wonder if headlight buckets are possible.
Re: Stainless steel bumpers
With regard to Headlight Buckets, I don't think so these people are pretty full on turning out bumpers for the better type vintage cars.
Many years ago I purchased a very classic looking Luggage rack that mounts on the trunk lid..As far as I am concerned it gives the Roadsters a cosmetic lift. It originally came in chrome plate that started to rust,,So I had a copy of it done in stainless.
I approached Harrington with the design who replied "They prefer to do bumpers" I suppose if you are doing a good thing stick to it.

Sorry about the delay..what type do you have? Is it the screw on crank type or the clip on?.either way it has to be for a high screen..
Have been talking with a bloke in BC who has one just waiting for his price and shipping quote..will get back to you if something amiss happens..thanks for the reply,, Regards Bert

Re: Stainless steel bumpers
It took a while between our holidays and theirs but ---yes, they have the cores I sent them. They have already started fabrication. I will be the first guinea pig to try them out. I am hoping they are not too over priced as to turn many folks off and provide a good quality replacement. We will see sooner than later.

Re: Stainless steel bumpers
Sid,
Yes, I have them but have yet to install them. They do look fantastic but I was a bit surprised by the pricing. The cost is the same whether you want the over riders or not. I tried to explain to them that not everyone wants the over riders and to charge the same price with or with out might be a hard sell. I got mine without the over riders. I will try to get them installed this weekend and take some pictures but no promises. They do look purty in the box though and I am impressed with the quality of the product. We will have to wait and see how well they hold up in the long term. I guess they are confident in their product as they already listed them on Ebay.

Re: Stainless steel bumpers
GroupHarrington also has the 68 rear bumpers for the same price. My dad was rear-ended in the my 68 back in 1970 and the bumper was replaced with 69/70 bumper without the "indent". Since the 69/70 didn't have the holes needed for the license plate light, I bought a very nice early style bumper on ebay last year and finally had a place to mount my light but it still didn't have the indent. Since 68 bumpers are pretty rare, I may just have to cough up the cash for the SS ones.

Re: Stainless steel bumpers
Well, if everyone orders them with the overriders, you can sell the overriders and get a good piece of your purchase price back. Unless the stainless looks funny against chrome.
